"He died doing what he loved."

"What, being a fucking pervert?" Bakugou scoffs.

"Bakugou! You shouldn't speak ill of the dead!" Yaoyorozu says.

"I'll insult whoever I fucking want to!"

"Everyone, the police are here to question you," Aizawa says, from the front of the classroom. "Even though it was clearly an accident, they need to talk to you to make sure there isn't any foul play. Detective Tsukauchi will be conducting the interview to ensure that none of you are lying."

"We have to be questioned by the police?" Misa cries. "But no one here killed that small purple thing!"

"He was a person," Yaoyorozu says.

"Debatable," Bakugou scoffs.

"Quiet down," Aizawa says. "It will be one on one, so we'll start with Aoyama. Go to the teachers lounge, you'll find the detectives there."

After Aoyama leaves, the whole room breaks out into furious whispers.

"Deku, do you think someone did something?" Uraraka turns to Midoriya. "They're not really acting like it was an accident."

"Well, with most people's quirks, it is possible that someone could have tampered with the beam," Midoriya says, thinking out loud. "You could have floated yourself up there and then used some sort of tool to weaken it ..."

"Deku!" Uraraka interjects.

"Hmm," L says. "You know, he's not wrong."

"You can't be suggesting that I killed him?" Uraraka says, incredulous.

"No," L says. "While I haven't known you all for long, you have only a 1% chance of committing the murder. Others in the class are much higher than you."

"What are the others' percentages?" Uraraka asks, worried.

"Well the top 3 are-"

"Wait, let me write this down," Midoriya says, pulling out his notebook. Todoroki pulls out a defaced Endeavor-brand notebook, mirroring him.

"In third place is Ashido with 3%. She was very quick to use violence against Mineta after he assaulted your friend. In second place is Bakugou with 7%. Bakugou is clearly driven by anger, has poor impulse control, and has said that he doesn't think of Mineta as a person."

"Bastard, I'll kill you! I'm here to become the number one hero! I don't have time to murder people."

"8%," L says, offhand. "Light's obviously in first with 50%."

"Um, you want to explain why?" Kirishima asks.

"I thought it was clear," L says. "Though if I have to explain-"

"Light would never! He's going to be an amazing hero, and we'll be hero partners!" Misa shouts. "You're just jealous!"

"Wait, where is Light?" Todoroki asks, pointing to Light's desk which sat empty, except for a lone apple core.

L looks at Todoroki with wide eyes.

"Maybe I spoke too soon when I called you an idiot this morning."

"He's just going to get my bag," Misa says. "I left it at the gym and this whole interrogation thing is going to be so boring if I can't read my magazines. Isn't Light just the sweetest?"

"Yes, he is the sweetest," L says.

"And here I thought you hated me," Light cuts in, striding through the doorway with Misa's bag in hand.

"We were under strict orders not to leave the classroom!" Iida yells, marching to the front. "As class president, it is my duty to ensure that all students are present and—"

"He was just helping me!" Misa says. "He knew I was too scared to go back. What if the murderer attacked me?"

"For the last time, there is no murderer, guys," Jirou says.

"Mes amies!" Aoyama cries, running into the room. "The detective is... dead!"

His eyes roll back into his head as the classroom erupts into chaos, Light smirking in the background.
