"I can't believe we already have classes again— two students have died in the past week! It feels kinda insensitive, honestly," Kirishima says, slumping over his desk.
"Death is an unfortunate inevitability," Tokoyami declares. "Life cannot halt because of the darkness."
"That's so morbid," Ashido says.
"I'm more worried about our safety, there could still be a murderer running around," Yaoyorozu says.
"He could even be in this very room," L says, pointedly staring at Light while everyone else turns to Bakugou.
"What are you fucking looking at me for?" Bakugou growls. "Todoroki has fucking fire powers too!"
"Enough of this," Aizawa commands. "The detectives found no evidence that anyone here is the murderer, or that the murderer is even on campus."
"But we're like sitting ducks," Jirou says. "The murderer is still on the loose, and only seems to be going after people affiliated with U.A."
"Principal Nezu, with his enhanced intelligence, is putting all his effort into solving the case," Aizawa explains. "You don't have to worry, he's more than capable of resolving this."
"Tch," Bakugou spits. "That rat creeps me out."
Well, the principal could be a set back, thinks Light. Luckily, I have the intelligence to match him. It seems like I have my next victim.
"Does that make you nervous, Light?" L whispers, staring at Light as if gazing into the depths of his soul.
"I really have no idea what you're talking about, L," Light says, unbothered. "I'm sick of these childish games you keep trying to rope me into."
"Everyone, I would like to make it clear that if I happen to die Light is the killer," L states. "No matter what the cause may be."
"Dude, what the hell?" Sero says.
"Are you feeling quite alright?" Yaoyorozu asks.
"I've always been vocal about Light's lies and I have the intelligence to reveal them, so it would only be natural for him to want me gone," L says. "It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when."
"Honestly, L, when have I ever given you the idea that I would stoop so low as to commit murder?" Light says, letting out an exasperated sigh. "You've known me for quite some time now, so you should know that I'm entirely dedicated to pursuing heroic justice."
I can't believe L pulled this again! I'm really in a difficult spot here, Light thinks. With that announcement, he's made sure that I can't take him out. I thought I would finally get my chance at this new school— but he was just one step ahead.
"Do you two do this everyday?" Tsuyu asks.
"Yes, why?" L says, tilting his head.
"I now understand why your school wanted to send you away, ribbit," Tsuyu says.
"Students, quiet down," Aizawa says. "I won't hesitate to expel all of you if you talk about the murders any more during class time. It's nothing you need to be concerned with. What should be on your mind is calculus."
"Yes sensei, I love calculus!" Iida yells, chopping the air.
