A sleek black Rolls Royce rolled through the gates of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan. Following the guard's directions, it turned left and stopped at the entrance. A short red carpet climbed three marble steps, where two men in polished leather boots stood guard, greeting guests with silent authority.

Inside the car, eyes dusted with a shimmer of glitter flicked to the rearview mirror. Eyeliner sharp, lips touched up Olivia Grey Preston gave herself one last look before stepping out.

A guard opened the door, offering his hand. Long black-painted nails slipped into his palm as Olivia emerged dressed in a glittering black gown that clung perfectly to her curves, the slit along her thigh revealing both danger and elegance. A purse dangled at her side.

"are you sure Ma'am... on your own!!" the driver asked concerned.

"Come on Mr. Henry it's not like my first time " Olivia gave him a smirk.

The Rolls rolled away. Marble under her heels, she reached the door abd stopped by a man in a dark suit and a polite mask.

"Good evening, Ms. May I see your invitation?"

Ellie opened her purse. Stilled. Empty. She checked again, slower. Nothing.

An arm slid through hers. Breath warmed her ear.
"Sorry, honey. I'm late."

She didn't have to turn to know. Austin Rae—Ian. Black blazer, silk-gold shirt, amusement all over his face. He handed the card to the attendant with theatrical ease.

"Surprise," he murmured, corner of his mouth tilting higher.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she hissed.

"Couldn't sit home knowing what you were planning."

"I can handle it."

"I know. And annoying you is still my favorite hobby."

She pinched his arm—hard enough to make him hiss, not enough to make him yelp.
"Do not get in my way, Ian."

They walked in together.
