The next morning, Jimin woke earlier than usual. He found himself between Ellie and Taehyung. Jungkook had Ian wrapped in his arms, while Taehyung's hand rested on Ellie's cheek. The scene was so peaceful that Jimin couldn't help but smile.
When Jungkook and Taehyung stirred awake, Ellie and Ian slowly blinked open their eyes. Realization struck all at once—they sat up quickly, embarrassed.
Then Jimin laughed out loud. He had his phone in hand, snapping pictures. Jungkook lunged for him, Taehyung joining in, and soon all four chased him around the room until Jin's voice scolded them from downstairs.
Despite the chaos, Ellie felt something different. For the first time in years, she had slept peacefully. Taehyung's presence had been... comforting. Too comforting. Her cheeks warmed at the memory of his hand on her face.
"Stop it, Ellie," she whispered to herself. "Don't go there."
After freshening up, she joined the others in the Cortex. Namjoon briefed the plan.
"Jungkook, Taehyung, Ellie—you'll crack the deal. Jimin and I will back you up."
Everyone agreed.
"You three need to dress properly," J-Hope pointed out. Jungkook and Taehyung left to change, while Jimin eyed Ellie.
"You're going like that?" he asked.
"I don't have anything fancy."
"Then let's fix that," Jimin said, dragging her along with Suga.
At the mall, Jimin pulled Ellie into Gucci. She hesitated, unsure, until he chose an outfit that fit perfectly. Suga paired it with black velvet boots, and suddenly Ellie saw a reflection of herself she barely recognized—sharp, confident, ready.
They checked out, but the cashier recognized Ellie's special card and packed everything for free. Jimin and Suga exchanged looks. Ellie only shrugged.
Back outside, a car pulled up. Jungkook and Taehyung stepped out—sharp suits, earpieces glinting. Jungkook grinned at Ellie.
"You look damn Gucci."
Ellie laughed, sliding into the backseat. Taehyung drove, but his eyes lingered on her in the mirror, a faint proud smile tugging his lips.
"So... you're into Arlene J, huh?" Ellie teased.
His eyes flicked toward her. "How do you know?"
"Jimin told me."
He gave a small nod. "Yeah. I like it."
"Like it? You wrote letters," she pressed.
His jaw tightened. "None of your business."
"Too bad. I could've arranged a meeting with the designer," she said lightly.
For a second, surprise flashed across his face. He almost asked—but then Namjoon's voice crackled through the earpiece.
"Focus. We're here."
The teasing stopped. Game faces on.
Taehyung's POV
Driving felt easier than facing her. Ellie in Gucci... she didn't need it to look beautiful, but damn, seeing her like that set my chest on fire.
She teases me, thinks it's a joke. She doesn't know she already has me.
I keep my hands steady on the wheel, but inside, I know the truth: Ellie is my weakness—and my reason.
And I'll protect her. Even if it kills me.
