It was still early morning when I stirred awake, feeling uneasy. The bed felt cold, empty. With half-closed eyes, I grabbed my plushie and wandered downstairs, my body still heavy with sleep. Ian's room was open. Without a word, I slipped inside and laid beside him, curling into a ball. He must have sensed me, because he shifted the blanket over me and rested one arm under my head, the other brushing gently against my cheek. With that warmth, I drifted back to sleep.
Jungkook woke not long after. Half asleep, he shuffled out of his room but paused when he spotted me lying beside Ian. A soft smile tugged at his lips, his heart strangely light at the sight. Silently, he continued his routine, careful not to wake us.
When I finally woke, it was to the press of Ian's sweet kiss on my forehead. I slipped back into my own room, washed up, and headed downstairs. Aunt Flora greeted me with her usual kindness, and we shared a warm breakfast before I made my way to the CORTEX.
"There you are! We've been waiting forever," Jungkook whined when I entered.
"Sorry..." I muttered, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
"We're investigating where he got all that money," RM explained, his tone steady. "V, Jungkook, Jimin, and Ellie—you'll be going."
We moved quickly, pulling light gear. Since we were heading into the city, we didn't need heavy weapons—just a shotgun for emergencies.
"Can we take my car? It's new here. Less recognizable," I suggested.
"That sounds like a good idea, Ellie," J-Hope said with an approving nod.
Before leaving, Ian placed a cap on my head and tightened it. "Be careful. Call me if anything goes wrong," he said quietly.
I nodded and we did our little handshake before I left with Taehyung, Jungkook, and Jimin.
The boys stared wide-eyed when they saw my car.
"Wah... this is amazing," Jimin gasped.
I smiled, sliding into the driver's seat. "Welcome, Olivia," a computerized voice chimed, startling them. I chuckled at their expressions.
"Hey Jarvis, we've got some business today," I said.
"Exciting! Assign me a task, Master," Jarvis responded.
Jungkook frowned. "Where are we going?"
"The garage where they borrowed the trucks," he explained. I quickly set the location, and Jarvis lit up the map.
"That person seems useful. Should I add him to the friends list?" Jarvis asked.
"Yeah. Store him as Jk," I replied.
"Data stored as Jk."
The boys stared in disbelief.
"Ellie, what is this?" Jimin asked.
"It's an AI. We built it ourselves," I explained proudly. "Introduce yourself so Jarvis can remember you too."
"Hey Jarvis, I'm Jimin," he said eagerly.
"Hi Jimin. That's a nice name," Jarvis replied smoothly.
"Whoa! It speaks so naturally!" Jimin's eyes sparkled.
But then Jarvis tilted its voice. "Is your master always this cold? She yells a lot, rarely smiles, and cries often."
"Jarvis!" I barked, my teeth gritted. "You're not allowed to leak my personal details."
"My programming ensures you can show emotions to your friends," it replied innocently.
"Stfu before I deactivate you."
