Morning came with Ian shaking me awake. Jimin poked his head into the room.
"Ellie... wear something comfortable, like you do at home. And first, come to the CORTEX," he said with a smile before leaving.
I frowned but followed his instructions. In the CORTEX, everyone was gathering.
"Jungkookie, Taehyungie, Ellie, Jiminie, Ian," Namjoon called, getting our attention.
"We're going on a mission. You guys stay here and rest, okay? It's a small mission, we'll handle it. But there's some paperwork pending—can you finish it for me?"
"Yeah, sure Joonie," we all replied together. He smiled gratefully.
"You better behave, kids. Don't touch a thing in the kitchen—omo, I'm already getting anxiety about what you'll mess up," Jin said dramatically, clutching his chest. Everyone laughed.
"Honestly, Jungkookie behaves more like the oldest, even though he's the youngest," Hoseok teased. Everyone nodded.
"You know what? Just sleep. Period," Yoongi added, leaning onto Jimin.
They left us with about a dozen instructions. Now it was just me, Ian, Jungkook, Taehyung, and Jimin in the CORTEX.
"How about we finish the paperwork first? Then we can enjoy the rest of the day," Jungkook suggested.
"You just read my mind," I winked, making him flash his bunny smile.
We all agreed. Splitting into groups, Jimin, Taehyung, and I took some files, while Jungkook and Ian dove into the computer work none of us really understood. With small chatter and stories about our pasts, the time passed quickly. Soon, everything was done. We tidied up the room, put the files back, and headed to the living room.
As we came downstairs, Flora was speaking with someone. The man looked vaguely familiar, but before we reached him, he left.
"Ellie, Ian—just in time," Flora said, turning to us. "Here, you have a package." She handed us two neatly packed boxes.
"I'll get going then. I've prepared everything. Be careful, kids, and don't make a mess," she added, waving as she left.
"What's in the box?" Jimin asked curiously.
"Nothing, just medicines," Ian and I answered quickly, setting them on the table. Jungkook and Taehyung sat on the couch, watching.
We opened the boxes. Inside were eight bottles—some with pills, others with liquids. The boys gasped. Ian's and mine shared a few in common. We exchanged awkward smiles.
"Are those for a year?" Jungkook asked, wide-eyed.
"For two months," I replied casually. They gasped again.
"Ugh, finally... I haven't had these for five days," I sighed, opening a bottle.
Taehyung rushed into the kitchen and returned with water. I took it gratefully.
"For five days? Seriously, Ellie, you shouldn't skip the course," Ian scolded, almost glaring. I stuck my tongue out to tease him.
The boys didn't press further, sensing our discomfort.
"We just want you to stay healthy," Jimin said gently.
"Thank you," Ian and I answered together.
"Shall we go to the pool?" Taehyung suggested.
"That'd be great," Ian agreed. We all headed out, except Jungkook, who said he'd join later.
By the pool, I hesitated at the edge. Ian jumped right in. Taehyung warmed himself in the sun.
