It all began in the sixth grade when Alessia took a class in ship modeling.
It all began in the sixth grade when Alessia sat next to a girl whom she barely knew.
A girl in her own class, but a girl all the same.
Alessia was a little wary of the girls in general.
They were traitorous things, most girls, and it was hard finding the girls who deserved your hope, your care and your trust. It also didn't help that practically all the girls in Alessia's class seemed to not like her very much and that Alessia, unfortunately, was a girl.
At least the boys were honest.
You could expect honest opinions and no backstabbing.
Usually.Let's just say that in the sixth grade, Alessia had just lost a group of friends, and she wasn't very keen on getting her hopes stepped over again, by people she herself let in.
Like here, I'm going to show you my spirit, show you my thoughts and show you my sadness.
I'm just going to hand over this knife to you.
Please feel free to stab me whenever you get the feeling, because I forgive very easily also.
And remember, it's all my fault. She hated how her mind worked.
So Alessia sat next to this girl, because she seemed like a pretty genuine person -
When she was away from society.
Aren't we all.Anyway.
Alessia and this girl struck up a pretty good conversation. And Alessia did something a little unexpected - she let this girl in.
Really, not much of a shocker.
It was pretty expected, with the way their exchanges went. She was honest.
She was as crazy as Alessia.
She was herself with Alessia.
And Alessia loved that with a vengeance.Valerie.
Strength. And so she was strong. At least on the surface. She was a soul with the depth of an ocean. Very few survived the swim. Very few had the strength to push further and understand.
The thing was, Alessia would go to great lengths to understand her friends.
Even if it meant getting hurt.
You have to get burnt to truly understand the flame.
And then you appreciate its warmth. They did the most crazy things in class. They'd share secrets. They'd talk about their insecurities.
They were both wary.
But somehow, in each other, they found solace. They had each other's back.
They'd be alone together. Forever.
Or so she thought.
With every friend.

**Alessia**"I am so sorry I wasn't there for you. The one day I didn't come. Why couldn't you have waited? Okay no don't answer that that's a stupid question."
I nod. Idiot.
"Val honestly it's okay. I kind of expected it anyway.""Well I can tell you he's lying. He's a liar. The truth is written all over his face. When he looks at you Lessi, I can see he cares. And if you'd just let me talk to him or punch him or yell at him we'll know for sure. Please Lessi I haven't hit someone in ages..."
I shake my head, smiling. She sure knows what to say, this girl.
"Val, we both know you're too nice to punch him... not. Okay no talking or hitting or yelling. Let's just see how this plays out. Okay? And anyway, you're my always. So really, a boy is irrelevant. It's just I unfortunately care for him. But it's okay."She sighs dramatically.
"Lessi we both know it's not okay, but what are you going to do then?"I smile.
"Love you forever? Is that an option?"She huffs.
"Lessi. About. Him.""Wait a while I guess. See how it goes."
~ ~ ~
"For how long are you going to wait? We don't know when he'll come around and I don't like the way he's being with you anymore."
Valerie was sometimes very protective.
And I could only sometimes admit that I loved being protected. It was a pretty different feeling from what society gave. But with Val, it was a given.
Val was home.
I smile.
"Val, as Aaron he is no use. He keeps his distance and tries to keep me happy too.
He tries to bring the light but he doesn't see that he is the light. So unfortunately the intensity of my attraction towards Aaron is fading..."I hear her smile. I frown.
"I don't want this to fade, but if he doesn't show me he cares, it's going to go away. So yeah."
I can tell Val is happy.
She plays it safe.
"Well if he doesn't get a move on, he loses out. So I'm not complaining. If he doesn't get a move on he doesn't deserve you. And we can run away together."I smile.
"Sure babe. Always."She laughs.
"What are we doing with our lives?"I laugh.
"Living. The way we should."____________________________
