After being jostled and almost knocked over more times than she could count, Ahsoka finally found the edge of the crowd. Now, where did Rex go?
Something slammed into her from behind, sending her to the floor for the second time today.
"Oh, whoops, sorry--Wait, Ahsoka?"
Ahsoka groaned and jumped to her feet, a retort ready. However, she was met by a familiar brunette.
"Anakin? Why do you keep knocking me over?" Ahsoka asked, crossing her arms.
"Hey, the first time wasn't my fault--"
"Anakin," a new voice interrupted. "Be nice."
Ahsoka looked to Anakin's left, studying the girl. She was Anakin's age, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a kind expression. She was also very pretty, which explained the stares, only from boys this time.
I wonder if this is who Rex was talking about.
"Sorry, Padmé," Anakin replied, confirming Ahsoka's suspicions.
Padmé rolled her eyes at him, focusing on Ahsoka. "Hello, Ahsoka, it's wonderful to meet you."
"You too."
Ahsoka looked around. "Have you guys seen Rex? He was supposed to be showing me where the gymnasium is."
"He's probably still stuck in that crowd. But we can take you," Padmé suggested.
"Shouldn't we wait for Rex?" Anakin asked.
"He knows his way around, Anakin. You forget, he's been here just as long as you," Padmé pointed out.
"Okay," Ahsoka agreed, both of them ignoring Anakin's protest of, "Why do we have to show the new kid around?".
On the way to the gym, Anakin pulled out his phone to see where Rex had gone. Meanwhile, Padmé and Ahsoka talked.
"So, Padmé, what do you like to do?" Ahsoka asked.
"I'm in the debate club and," she lowered her voice, "I also do archery once in a while, but don't tell Anakin." Padmé winked.
Ahsoka giggled.
"How about you, Ahsoka?"
"I like fencing and track, but I'm also interested in learning archery."
"Hmm," Padmé said, " I'd offer to teach you, but I'm not very good. However, I know Rex loves archery, so maybe he could teach us both something."
"That would be great," Ahsoka grinned. "Now we just have to get him to agree."
Speaking of Rex, the blonde teen suddenly appeared between her and Anakin. He gave her an apologetic look. "Sorry I left, kid, I couldn't find you in the crowd."
"No problem, Rexter, Anakin and Padmé helped me out," Ahsoka shrugged, pointing to her two new friends.
"Wait, 'Rexter'?" Rex asked.
"Well, I figured if I have a nickname for Anakin, I should make one for you too."
Rex hesitated, then shrugged. "Guess there's no harm in it."
"Oh, Rex," Padmé began, "Ahsoka and I were wondering if you could teach us some archery, I know how good you are."
"I guess I could," Rex agreed. "We could start this weekend if you'd like."
"Looking forward to it," Padmé replied, and Ahsoka nodded.
"That's the gym," Anakin said, pointing to the large building directly opposite the back of the school.
