Note: Ziro is Jabba's uncle in the show but I thought it would make more sense for him to be Rotta's uncle instead for this story
"Thank you so much for doing this, Cody. I'll find a way to repay you, I promise!" Ahsoka said. She put a hand on Rotta's shoulder.
"I'll be back soon. I'm going to go help my friends find your uncle. You be good for Cody, okay?"
Rotta nodded. She'd expected him to be sad that she was leaving, but instead, he seemed excited that she was going after Ziro. "I know you can do it!" he said, giving her a wide smile.
Ahsoka laughed, ruffling his hair. "And then we'll get you back to your father, I'll make sure of it."
"Okay!" Rotta nodded excitedly. Ahsoka was happy to finally see him coming out of his shell. Especially since the medicine kicked in, he must've been feeling much better."See you soon! Thanks again, Cody!" Ahsoka waved at the two, running out the door with Artoo.
"No problem," Cody called after her.
Ahsoka pulled out her phone, thankful that Anakin had shared his contact info with her. That hopefully meant she could track him.
Anakin would be forever grateful that he'd taken martial arts classes when he was younger. Because of it, he was able to stun Dooku's minions and escape mostly unharmed, save for his pride when Dooku pushed him into the puddle.
Anakin ran as fast as he could. The sun had set completely, so his eyes had to adjust to the darkness. Luckily, there was a full moon so at least he wouldn't run into a building or a thug.
He hadn't been in the Tatooine neighborhood since he was nine years old, but he still remembered its layout like the back of his hand. Anakin forced aside his old memories; he was doing this for Rotta, to get him home.
He desperately wanted to call Padmé but that could risk compromising her position if she was close to finding Ziro. He could however try to find her location. Once he pulled out his phone, Anakin figured out she was in a building nearby. It didn't look like she was moving from the spot, and a small part of him worried that she'd dropped her phone.
Anakin headed toward the building, letting his mostly-adjusted eyes help guide him.
"There," he murmured, seeing a large, abandoned warehouse in front of him. He quickly put his phone on silent and snuck into the building. It was empty and quiet, except for one lightbulb in the center. Anakin scanned the room, his foot bumping against something on the floor. Looking down, his fears were confirmed: Padmé's phone. His heart jumping to his throat, he leaned down and picked it up. She had clearly been recording and it was still going. He ended the video and watched the playback. He listened to the entire recording, growing angrier and more worried as each second passed.
His blood ran cold when he heard Dooku and Ziro discussing ransoming her. Growling, he shoved both phones into his pockets and stormed out of the warehouse.
"We're home!" Obi-Wan announced as he and Rex finally made it to the house after the large amount of traffic.
They were met with the sight of Cody stacking pillows in the middle of the living room with Rotta inside the fort.
"Uh, when did you get here?" Rex asked. "Where are Ahsoka and the General?"
"Well, from what I understand, they're going after this kid's uncle, who showed up here right before I did. Padmé went with them. I did bring milkshakes for us though."
Obi-Wan pinched the bridge of his nose. "Of course, they went after him."
"I'm going to go find them," Rex decided, setting down his bag of groceries.
