A/N: Hey guys this is going a bit off script to the episodes. Sorry for really late update I've had no motivation lately and have been working on later chapters when I have been able to write. I've also been in a downwards spiral in my mental health but I'm going to try to update mor often.

"Guys hurry up!" Daichi yelled as the two boys dashed towards the bus.
They sprinted as fast as they could. Their knees collapsing as they reached the door of the bus.
"I won." The dark-haired teen panted as he slowly turned his head towards his friend.
"No you didn't." Hinata retorted still catching his breath.
"Shouldn't the king know better than to arrive late." Tsukishima snickered as his friend let out a soft laugh after the two boys made their way down the isle.
Hinata had explained his lack of sleep causing some of the others to worry and tanaka to attempt to reassure him which failed, leading to suga having to intervene.Kiyoko began ticking off items off of her list. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi plugged their headphone adapter in as they pressed play on their playlist. It was a playlist they had made together throughout the years. Each time they found a song that they both loved, thought fit them well or reminded them of the other, they would add it to this playlist. Yamaguchi rested their head on his shoulder and their hands gently grazed against each others. The music helped to calm their anxieties about the match. It was a good distraction until Hinata threw up over tanaka. The smell lurked around the bus even after they attempted to spray their deodorant.
They arrived and began to play the practise match, curious on where the setter they had heard so much about was.
"Oh, you're back, Oikawa." Irihata stated. The team gathered around to ask him how he was as girls tried to get his attention.
"Oikawa-san, take care of yourself!" a random girl yelled loud enough for everyone to hear.
Oikawa raised his hand slowly and waved to the girls who were watching from the observation deck of the gym, his face plastered with a bright and warm smile. The girls scream almost deafened everyone. Iwaizumi sighed and made eye contact with Azumi laughing softly from the stands. She waved towards him before awkwardly sticking her thumbs up. Oikawa began to warm up at the side as the others continued to play.
"Oh my. We're in a crisis." Oikawa began to stand from the bench he was perched on.
"Did you get warmed up?" Irihata queried.
"Perfectly." He glanced down at him on the bench and took the number from his hands.
Finally he was swapped into the match with Kunimi. As the girls cheered, kageyama froze. He had looked up to him during his first year of kitagawa junior high school, and now here he was, playing against him.
The game ended quickly. Oikawa was intrigued by Hinata and Kageyama's ability. Shock flooded through him at the idea of how far Kageyama had come in such a short amount of time. He seemed to get on with his team and his skills had developed even more. 'A threat...' he thought before shaking his head. Hinata seemed to be the perfect partner for him. He approached him and whispered something that no one else could hear. He was too distracted to notice the person approaching his best friend.
"Hey, you were great out there and I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?" They asked in a gentle tone. Usually Oikawa was the one who got asked out, never him. Needless to say he was shocked. He smiled and glanced at Oikawa.
"If you want a chance with him, I don't recommend it, he's an annoying piece of shit..." he paused thinking of all the dumb things Oikawa did. He thought they were cute soemtiems, but he wouldn't admit it. "...and he has a girlfriend anyway."
"I actually wanted to go out with you, that's why I said you, not Oikawa." The person giggled.

5minutes later the person left and iwaizumi's thoughts trailed back to his childhood friend.
"Mr refreshing" Oikawa smirked as he approached the shorter setter. Admiring his silky grey hair; he swiftly slumped against the cream-coloured walls and started to drink out of his bottle. Suga's candid eyes flicker up his body and down and the cocky young man accidentally let out a small snicker when they landed on his lips.
A large pout had appeared on his face in realisation. "Stop calling me that." He darted his eyes to meet his. Oikawa could practically taste the annoyance in his voice.
"Still on the bench after all these years?" Suga's eyes faltered for a moment and darkness corrupted them. He snapped out of it but as soon as his mouth began to open he was interrupted. "I'm kidding." Oikawa let out a soft laugh. "Sorry that probably was a bit harsh...especially when I was the one who asked for tobio-chan to be the setter."
"Just a bit." Suga replied. "What do you want?" He bit the inside of his cheek softly. He noticed that Oikawa was fiddling with his bottle but didn't think much of it.
"Here, don't open it till you're alone." He said as he dropped a small crumpled piece of paper into the other setters hand. The brunette winked as he began to stroll back towards his childhood friend. Suga stared questionably at the slip of paper in front of him.
"Were you flirting with him?" Iwaizumi inquired and raised an eyebrow.
Oikawa turned towards him with a sly grin. "That's a Mystery my love, but don't be jealous, I'll always love you more." Iwaizumi's heart raced faster than lightning. He was used to Oikawa but would never get used to when he spoke to him like this. Oikawa let out a laugh of endearment as his eyes drooped to the floor. His hand carefully brushed through his soft hair when he looked back up. The shorter teen wished he could take a photo in that moment. His smile shone brighter than the sun on a radiant summer's day. Iwaizumi wished that he was always smiling like that. He wished that he was always happy. Oikawa caught him staring resulting in subtle panic. "Ah" Oikawa said through a breath as realisation shot through him. "Sorry I got carried away. Anyway have you seen Azumi?"
Iwaizumi blinked. "No idea, I'm assuming she's where we were supposed to meet her though dumbass." They began to walk towards the exit. Azumi stood patiently outside as Oikawa approached her.
"Hey, I've got something for you." She said before her soft lips pressed in for a kiss. The box was passed between them, then put into his bag before the rest of the team came out. She joined the team at the cafe. Oikawa pulled her onto his lap and whispered thank you into her ear before they left. He walked her home before practising volleyball with Iwaizumi for an hour.
Oikawa didn't sleep that night, his mind was racing with thoughts about the practise match. 'I need to do better' he thought as he stared at the blank ceiling above him. He pulled out his headphones and a sketch book to keep his mind distracted and to help control the urges. He let out his emotions into the pictures. Iwaizumi had tried to talk him about the overdose during practise but he kept lying saying it was food poisoning. Iwaizumi's words invaded his mind. "I have everything under control. I'm fine" he mumbled quietly under his breath before flipping to a fresh page
