After many wrong turns, and twists I don't understand what the heck happened, we finally come to a place I recognize.

"We're close." I sniff again. I didn't share the fact that I smelled Aaron, because I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. "This is near the room where Derek got turned. I think Aphmau's in there."

"I know this place too." Katelyn says suddenly. "I walked by that room after we fought Aaron... to get my cuts healed."

"You had yours healed?" I demand, rubbing my scabs. "And you too, Garroth!" I say, noticing he's bruise-free as well.

"I'll heal you later." Lucinda promises. "Once we get off this island. Are we almost there?"

Without needing to sniff, I nod and point to a door. "She's in there."

We all move forward, Lucinda in the lead, and we enter the room where I was forced to watch as Derek sacrificed himself for his son. In the center of the room, right underneath the cannon, Aphmau is crouched over a body with multiple vivid purple marks over his skin. Kim is next to them.

"---Lucinda can do something about his burns." Kim is saying.

Lucinda grins. "You rang?" She calls across the room, standing at the overlook area. I hang back, not wanting to relive the horrible moment. Garroth notices and puts his arm around me.

I guess Kim turns to look at Lucinda, because Lucinda calls out, "You know, if I can hear my name from a mile away---"

"Lucinda! Quick! We need your help!" Aphmau yells, sounding panicked.

"Oh, no." Lucinda whispers, suddenly somber.

"Is everything okay?" Zane asks.

Lucinda doesn't answer, rushing out of the room. "Violet, how do I get down there?"

"Um..." I sniff. "Follow me!" I lead everyone down to the area, where Aphmau is still crouched over...

"Aaron." I breathe, scarcely believing it. Lucinda sprints down the runway, stopping at Aphmau, Kim, and Aaron.

"What happened?" Lucinda demands.

"He was trapped in... another place." Aphmau explains shakily. "It was dark, and I-I had to use the Realm Breaker to get him out. Ghost said that these were---"

"Void burns." Lucinda finishes. "I've only read about them. I... don't think he's in any danger right now, other than the pain. I might be able to do something, but not here."

Aaron groans. "Worry about me... when we all get out of here." He groans. We all join them on the large podium, gathering around in a circle. Katelyn, Garroth and I huddle together. Aaron stands slowly, and Garroth breathes in suddenly in shock.

"H-hey." Garroth mumbles.

Aphmau turns and, with tears in her eyes, runs at us. We all three open our arms to accept her hug, and she does so tightly. I hear Aphmau crying, but I'm shaking too hard to really care. My heart is breaking inside my chest, filled with more relief than I can explain.

"I'm so glad you three are safe." Aphmau says, her voice breaking.

"My body moved on it's own." Garroth croaks. "I didn't want to hurt anyone."

"I'm so sorry." Katelyn mumbles. "I didn't mean to do any of it... I couldn't stop it."

"I couldn't control anything I was doing..." I moan, tears slipping down my cheeks. "I... well, you know what it was like. I'm so, so sorry..."
