Teljos was silent. Everyone not part of the defense were in their homes, afraid of the Dyrakos fleet that roamed in the area.
Lumaira looked out into the sky, gazing down at the city. It had been two days since a Dyrakos battle group sacked Gaenlin, leaving the Lidaeri forces in disarray. Rokotai and Kveaita were slowly being overwhelmed, their armies and fleets reduced to scattered battalions and disorganized groups of ships. The remnants of the force that attacked Angver were away, scoring a few minor victories against the more powerful enemy. Even they, however, were at the verge of breaking. Their only hope would be to unite with Altaarium, Vanraael, Ulmara and Jorkal. Else, they would all fall.
Her brother Tairon and her sister Veira entered the room, and went to stand by her side, also gazing down at the silent city. "The realm war is over. Now, it is time for a war of survival" Tairon said after a moment. "Yes. A war we shall lose if we don't come together" Lumaira said darkly. "Perhaps. We received a message from Commander Orvelios. She wishes to discuss an alliance with us" said Veira. "When?" "Now."
The three Jorkal Knights teleported to the council chamber. Commander Orvelios was shown on the hologram displayer. "Commander Orvelios. We were told you wish to discuss a possible alliance with us" said Veira. "Yes. As you already know, Gaenlin has been sacked. Our fleet has been reduced to scattered battle groups. The same is true for the Rokotai and Kveaita. We are being invaded as we speak. The Dyrakos aren't going to stop with us. Once we are all destroyed, they will move on to you. Your forces are still intact, as well as those of Ulmara, Vanraael and Altaarium. We have to come together, and attack them. For starters, destroy what's left of the Xoer forces" the commander replied.
"They will retaliate with at least four times the fire power, and we shall be destroyed. I am not sure we can risk it" said Lumaira. "They will destroy us anyway, unless we come together now. We have almost nothing to lose now, but you have a lot. For the sake of your people, you must rise up against them" Commander Orvelios said. "We might as well take some of them with us."
"And if we do win, then what? The Xoer will need a new leader. Our people will suffer regardless. Can you guarantee that our wars will end, assuming we do win?" asked Tairon. "I can not guarantee anything. Our future will be very difficult, regardless who wins. You are right to worry. I will ask you this, however. Are you willing to standby and wait for Dyrakos to come to you? Are you willing to surrender to them, surrender your people to their oppression?"
"You may count on our support. As far as Altaarium, Vanraael and Ulmara, we can not say" Lumaira said.
Another figure appeared beside Orvelios's hologram. "Commander, the Dyrakos just attacked the Ulmaran capital. We have to send aid immediately." "Prepare our forces, captain" she turned to the man. "Looks like our help is needed" she said, turning back to them. "We will be en route shortly" Veira said, and the commander nodded.
12 Jorkali battleships, four corvettes, eight frigates and 2,300 fighters departed Teljos, and entered a portal.
The fleet emerged over Harakas, next to a smaller Lidaeri battle group, consisting of 5 battleships, a corvette and two frigates, surrounded by 300 fighters.
They were going up against a fleet comprised of 30 Dyrakos battleships, 13 frigates and 14 corvettes. 1,700 fighters escorted the larger ships.
Commander Orvelios contacted Lumaira. "We are going to attack their flagship. Form up in a ring around us" she said. "Alright. Veira, Tairon, go to the ground. We will handle the air" Lumaira said.
Several dozen troop carriers flew to the Jorkali flagship. "Commander, I need you in our hangar" Lumaira said.
Orvelios nodded, and said "Porteo".
