Chapter 20:Final Stand

The Emperor sat upon his throne, watching as his forces converged on the Alliance.

"Admiral, move us in. I want to crush them personally" he said, stepping off his throne. "Are you sure, sire?" "Yes", the Emperor said, heading to the hangar.

Lumaira, Luteor, Tairon, Akala, Paellor, Kelja, Valaeon and Teolara, along with Commanders Zuron, Teitar, Etreon and Orvelios, stood at the front, watching the Dyrakos army advance.

Then, as the Dyrakos flagship  closed in on the fleet, a lone Dyrakos fighter went down to the surface. A dark aura emanated from it, washing over them in a chilling wave.

A tall, muscular figure exited the fighter, its purple cape billowing in an otherworldly wind. The Emperor has arrived, and with him, a dozen Dark Knights, and four Tearia.

The magicians raised their weapons, and prepared to wield magic.

"Greetings, Aervel Knights, Commanders. I am the Emperor of Dyrakos. For decades, I've watched you all. Your strength and tenacity have impressed me. You have fought valiantly, but now, it is time to end this war, once and for all, and for peace to be restored. Swear allegiance to me, and all that shall be achieved."

"This war would have ended long ago, had you stayed away. The battle of Angver would have been the last. You forced us to keep fighting. The war shall end today, but on our terms" said Luteor, raising his voice.

"It was an unfortunate necessity. I had to remove any chance of future wars starting. But now, there is no need to keep fighting. Join me, and peace shall be restored" the Emperor said.

"Not today. Today, you shall fall."

"So be it", the Emperor said.

The Commanders battled the Tearia, while Kelja, Paellor, Valaeon and Teolara fought the Dark Knights, and Lumaira, Luteor, Tairon and Akala faced the Emperor.

Kelja blocked a fire ball with a water shield and released a burst of lightning, which her foes repelled with their hands. Kelja leapt over three waves of dark energy and executed a 360 in the air, while spinning her staff, and sending beams of light at them. She landed in a crouch, and brought her hand down on the ground, staggering them with earth stumps. They retaliated with dark energy. Kelja spun her stuff, and the light shield blocked their attacks. She released a silver energy beam from her staff, which they evaded. One of them came forward and attacked with its dark energy sword.

She blocked its attacks and leapt away from the other two. She sent out an air wave, pushing one back and coated her staff in light. "Streokal spular", she said, throwing one of them back, leaving the third by itself. She attacked, and locked its weapon in place with her staff. As the dark energy sword came into contact with the light coated staff, it became to weaken, its blade shimmering.

Kelja broke off the contact, barely evading a wave of dark energy.

The three Dark Knights attacked her together. Kelja slammed her staff into the ground, sending earth fists at them. "Lyran illiaras", she said, releasing a lightning storm. They were able to defend, but the earth fists she sent at them disrupted their concentration, and one of them was electrocuted. Kelja said "Eilar", killing it instantly. The other two attacked with their dark energy swords, and she defended with her staff.

Paellor aimed his staff at the third Dark Knight, and released a gold energy beam. The dark warrior blocked with its weapon and retaliated with a rain of fire. Paellor spun his staff, deflecting the storm and sent ice shards at his foe. The Dark Knight evaded and attacked with its blade, not letting him use magic.

Paellor blocked its attacks and delivered a slam to its neck. "Streokal", he said, and struck his foe in the solar plexus with his fingers rigid. The Dark Knight staggered, and Paellor exploited the opening. He struck its chin with his palm, pushing its head back and struck the exposed neck with his elbow, crushing the trachea. All three Dark Knights that faced him were now dead.
