Chapter 15:Hammer Blow Part 2

The Allied Fleet came under fire from a swarm of Dyrakos fighters. While the Allied fighters were being deployed, the enemy ships tore through the fleet, and destroyed several battleships.

Two Dyrakos destroyers closed in on the flagship, shooting down an emerging squadron. The rest of the fighters managed to slip past the destroyers, however, and attacked their vulnerable points, while the flagship's heavy weapons unloaded volleys of sunbeams, targeting their bridges.

Several squadrons of Dyrakos fighters attacked the flagship, the destroyers drawing most of its fire. They were quickly intercepted by two corvettes and a frigate, which tore through them, with the aid of the nearby allied fighters.

Kilor, Kelja and Eruma defended the flagship, where most of the Dyrakos fighters were concentrated, while Paellor, Valaeon and Teolara attacked the Dyrakos flagship and the defending destroyers.

Paellor went after a bomber, quickly shooting down the escorting fighter and then hit the bomber's left wing, causing it to veer off into another bomber, destroying both. Several fighters fired on him, but Paellor took his ship for a spin, evading them and came at them from behind. He shot down three, but the other two managed to evade, and released their missiles.

"Kressureo" Paellor said, tearing the four missiles, and sent the fragments back at them, destroying both in a fiery explosion.

He then targeted a damaged corvette, barely evading its guns, and sent two missiles at its bridge, killing everyone inside.

"Kalkar illiaras" he said, and directed the ship into the engines of a Dyrakos battleship. As the corvette struck the engines, it exploded, taking them with it. The battleship was rendered immobile, and several squadrons of fighters and two allied cruisers, with Teolara and Valaeon in the lead, descended on it, taking it down.

Kilor and Kelja shot down several bombers, and attacked a fighter squadron, quickly wiping it out. Two more squadrons approached them. "Maera algre" the two said in unison, turning them on each other. They shot the remaining four, and flew back to the flagship, assisting the other defenders.

Then, three Dyrakos destroyers attacked, two of them ramming the flagship, while the other four destroyed the remaining defending fighters. A sunbeam struck Kilor's left wing, and he barely avoided crashing into Kelja.

"Kilor, retreat now. I will cover you" Kelja said into her comlink. "No. I won't make it" he replied. "What are you- "Don't worry. I have an idea" Kilor replied, and released his remaining missiles, shooting down the nearby Dyrakos squadron. "You are crazy! Retreat now!" he heard Kelja's frantic voice, but he ignored her. 

Seeing what he was about to do, Kelja contacted Admiral Rokal. "Admiral, don't target that destroyer. I am going to help my crazy cousin before he gets himself killed" she said. "Alright. But get back quickly" he replied.

Kelja activated her autopilot, and ejected, directing herself to the ship, pushing herself with air.

He flew to the nearest destroyer, and sent the fighter into the hangar. He jumped out, and was instantly fired upon by the guards.

"Eoren illiaras" he said, releasing massive fire blooms and energy beams, killing most of them. He deflected the others' shots with his staff, and said "Teotaires", drawing on their life force. They collapsed, and moved no more.

A Dark Knight appeared, drawing its dark energy sword.

Kilor attacked with his staff, evading its lightning attack. The two clashed, and with the extra energy he took from the guards, Kilor was able to keep it on the defensive. He ducked under a horizontal strike and bashed the dark warrior on the temple, before thrusting the head of his staff into its sternum. The Dark Knight said "Kalkar", pushing him away, and released a beam of dark energy. Kilor blocked with a shield of light and released an aquamarine energy beam from the aereol in the head of his weapon. The dark warrior blocked with its sword, and unleashed a torrent of lightning, which Kilor managed to repel with his own, sending his foe on its back. As he rushed to finish it, another Dark Knight struck him with a wave of dark energy, and disarmed him of his staff. Kilor tried to defend with his magic, but the warrior said "Maera", Locking him and struck him with an earth fist.

As the other Dark Knight recovered, a silver energy beam slammed into it, burning its shoulder. Kelja unleashed a massive air blast, sending both warriors to the floor.

She rushed to him, and said "Heilas", purging the dark energy in him. She sealed his other wounds, and helped him to his feet. "Never do this again" she said, embracing him. "No promises. Come on. Let's finish them and take the bridge" Kilor said. "Fine. Only because I don't want you to get yourself killed" Kelja replied.

The Dark Knights attacked them, unleashing their magic. The two Aervel Knights blocked with energy shields, and retaliated with their staffs, closing the distance between them and unleashed flurries of powerful blows.

Kilor evaded an earth fist and unbalanced his foe with a triple kick to the chest. He used the moment to strike, thrusting the head of his staff into the Dark Knight's throat, crushing its trachea.

"Illar" Kelja said, freezing the floor under her foe, making it stumble, straight into her staff. She released an energy beam from the aereol, burning a hole in its chest. She went around its back, and wrapped her weapon around the neck. She pulled, twisting simultaneously, breaking the dark warrior's neck. Her foe collapsed, never to move again.

The two rushed to the bridge, quickly taking out everyone inside.

They sat down at the controls, and Kelja contacted Admiral Rokal. "Admiral, we took over the destroyer." No response came. "Admiral? Can you hear me? Admiral?" Paellor's voice came. "Admiral Rokal is dead. So is Eruma. Our fleet is nearly destroyed. You must go back now, before all of us are killed." "We are on our way."

Another Dyrakos fleet exited ultraspeed, and fired on the remaining allied ships. Only 1 battleship and 2 cruisers were left, along with a few frigates and corvettes, and 3 squadrons of fighters.

As they guided the destroyer to the rest of the allied forces, a Dyrakos battle ship rammed them. The rest of the enemy ships attacked the allied fleet, forcing them to retreat.

Kilor and Kelja rushed to the hangar, and jumped into Kelja's fighter. They flew out of the ship, and immediately were hit by several sunbeams.

The fighter fell to the ground, but they ejected, and the ship crashed, exploding upon contact with the ground. They landed safely, and rushed to the nearby forest, while a few troop transports and a fighter flew down from the battleship.

Commander Elsurn watched the Aervel Knights with a grim smile on his face.
