Chapter 8:A New Enemy

For the next few months, the Rokotai, Kveaita and the Lidaeri strengthened their armies and fleets, and raided the Xoer supply lines and outposts, splitting and surrounding individual armies, and crushing them. Their campaign was going well. Little did the allies know, however, that soon, everything would change...

The allied armies marched on the Xoer soldiers, while their fleets approached their remaining battle group comprised of 17 battleships, four corvettes, a frigate and 800 fighters. The allied fleet consisted of 87 battleships, 46 corvettes and 38 frigates, along with nearly 4,000 fighters.

Eruma, Teolara, Valaeon, Kilor, Kelja, Aerza, Paellor, Atrea and Jaruun watched the display on the command table. "Who will lead the ground assault?" asked Valaeon. "Kilor, Kelja, Aerza, and Eruma. You, Teolara, Paellor and Jaruun will go with me for the aerial part" Atrea said. "Alright. Let's get to it, then. It is time to finish this war once and for all."

Kilor, Kelja, Aerza and Eruma joined the ground forces. "Eoren illiaras" said Eruma, as she released a massive fire bloom, scorching several dozen nearby soldiers. "Karyos illiaras" Kelja, Kilor and Aerza said in unison, letting loose 6 dark energy beams, burning through six columns, killing another group of Xoer soldiers. "Illar illiaras" said Aerza, freezing another several dozen  and pierced another group with ice shards. "Aoros illiaras." Kelja molded the earth under the feet of a battalion, and moved her arms to the sides, opening a chasm, through which they fell, screaming.

Kilor said "Kalkar illiaras!", unleashing a powerful air blast, sweeping aside another battalion. "Kressureo illiaras" the four Knights said at once, ripping sheets of metal out of the nearby Xoer tanks, disabling or destroying them outright, and hurled the metal at a group of Xoer soldiers, killing them all.

Just then, a lightning storm erupted, as yellow, green and purple bolts  rained down on the allied soldiers and tanks, frying them. Haelia, Kinta, Ulzen, Eikyra and Elantya walked out of the Xoer lines, their staffs at the ready.

Eruma activated her comlink, and contacted Valaeon. "Haelia, Elantya, Kinta, Eikyra and Ulzen are all here. We need help." "Hold on. I am coming" he replied.

Valaeon spun his fighter, taking down another few fighters. He turned to the ground, and flew to their aid. He pressed the trigger, sending a volley of sunbeams and missiles at the Xoer army, killing dozens of their soldiers and blowing their tanks. The blasts distracted Haelia and the other Xoer Knights, throwing them to the ground. Valaeon flew over them and leapt out of the cockpit, after giving control over it to a built in fighting program.

Haelia and the others got back to their feet, and Valaeon landed in their midst, releasing an air wave, separating them. The air wave knocked out Ulzen and Kinta, leaving Elantya, Eikyra and Haelia outnumbered. Valaeon attacked Haelia, while Eruma, Kilor, Kelja and Aerza battled Eikyra and Elantya.

Valaeon said "Ruonar", sending a volley of light balls at his foe. Haelia blocked with a dark energy shield, and retaliated with lightning. Valaeon absorbed the blast into his hand, and channeled it through his aereol, into an enhanced green energy beam. "Aoros" Haelia said, bringing up an earth wall, and blocking the beam. She released a beam of her own, and Valaeon sent out another. The green and purple beams collided, as they tried to power through the other's. Valaeon manipulated the air around Haelia, distracting her, and his beam pushed hers back. "Streokal spular illiaras" he said, and started walking towards her, forcing her back. As he got closer, she said "Karyos lyran illiaras", panicking. Before he could strike her down, a burst of dark energy and lightning struck him, throwing him hard against the ground. The attack caused her energy beam to disappear, and his struck her as well, burning a hole just under her sternum.

Valaeon's vision turned black. He blinked once, and again, but could not see. The blast damaged his eyes, stripping him of his sight. The sight spell would be useless to him now, but not the hearing spell. Valaeon felt his ears ringing, and said "Heilas", and the ringing stopped. "Haarven illiaras" he said, enhancing his hearing. Though he could not see, he could hear everything around him perfectly, not missing a single detail about his environment.
