11. What is he doing here

"So, she broke up with you?" I asked as me and Jason walked from science class to lunch. He nodded in response and I sighed. "Sorry dude, did she tell you why?" I asked and he sighed.

"The typical thing. 'It's not you, it's me. But I think we should see other people.'" we reach the cafeteria and went into line, eyes going over our usual table to see if the girl in question was there, but no. Piper had decided to give Jason space by taking another table, which was a true sacrifice since she had to sit with her step-sister, Drew. Luckily, Leo was also by her side.

"How do you feel?" I asked as I grabbed an apple and a drink.

"Like a deflated balloon." he said and I couldn't stop a chuckle.

"I think you're being a little dramatic." I said and he shrugged. We made our way over to the usual table and sat down. Percy, Reyna, Frank, Hazel, Lou Ellen, Cecil, and Will were already there when we did.

"I invited them, hope you don't mind." Percy said, nodding to the three latter once.

"Not at all." I said with a smile, just as Percy's eyes fell on Jason.

"Why does he look like a kicked puppy?" he asked and Jason sighed.

"Piper broke up with me." he admitted and Percy made an 'oof' sound as he handed Reyna five dollars, making me laugh while Jason frowned. "You betted on this?"

"Well, Reyna said she thought Piper might, I said that was ridiculous. But we didn't want to drag you in because if I was right, we would only give you unnecessary doubts." he explained simply.

"Still, that is cruel. Even for you two." Jason argued. "Reyna, have anything to say for yourself?" he asked, but she wasn't even looking our way anymore. And whatever she was looking at, she looked ready to kill it. "Reyna?" he asked and she clenched her jaw before answering, looking terrifying.

"What is he doing here?"

"There are three schools in this city, I didn't think he would go to this one." Nico muttered, head down and hands clenched. I turned around in my seat to look, though I already knew who it was; Octavian (Blurgh).

"You knew he is in town?" Jason asked and Nico nodded. "Then why did you let me rant about Piper? You should have told me." he said and Nico sighed.

"I'm trying to pretend he doesn't exist, I didn't know he'd come here." he muttered back while Cecil and Lou were looking confused.

"Are y'all still upset about the RARA thing?" Cecil asked and they all turned to him while I facepalmed inwardly.

"No. Long story short, Octavian is garbage." I said and the others nodded while my two friends looked at me in confusion, I usually only diss people I like, for me to say this about someone I genuinely don't like is weird.

"Why is he garbage?" Cecil asked and I hesitated, not sure what to say. Considering how we go to a small school and he still managed to keep this under the radar, he obviously doesn't want everyone to know.

"I dated him once and let's just say he wasn't a good boyfriend." Nico said and Reyna turned to him.

"When did you find out he was back?" she asked.

"Yesterday." he mumbled, but she didn't seem satisfied with the short answer and it looked like Nico was focused on staying calm and thus not in the mood to talk, so I talked instead.

"We were at the coffee shop and he came up to our table. He pretty much explained how his father's company has business to attend here and that they are back."

"For how long?" Percy asked and I shrugged.

"He didn't say and we didn't stay around to find out." as I said that, Hazel turned to my friends.

"Octavian had treated Nico badly and when our dad found out, he threatened to bring in the law on the matter, the Augustus family moved away to avoid it." she explained and they nodded while I finally felt something other than fear for Hades.

"And now he is back?" Cecil asked and she nodded while Lou looked puzzled.

"Hold on, is this the real reason you broke his nose?" she asked Reyna.

"Yes. Though he did call me RARA, so we used that as an excuse." Reyna explained and Lou nodded. "How you doing kid?" Reyna continued, turning to Nico who shrugged.

"As long as I don't have to speak to him, I'll be fine." he said, eyes still focused down.

"Alright." she said, before frowning. "He saw you... he is coming our way."

"He is what?!" I whisper-yelled and she rolled her eyes, before smiling slightly.

"Nevermind, he spotted me and turned around."
