The moment that Juliet Romilly left the Potter's house through the fireplace, Lily Evans shook her head at all four boys and left the room, a sour expression occupying her face.

"Lil," James called after her. When the witch ignored him he jumped up off the sofa and followed her, "Lily."

"What?" The redhead snapped.

"What's the matter?" He asked, a stupid grin on his face. Sirius stifled a laugh and Remus rolled his eyes, never ceasing to be astonished at James' idiocy around the woman.

"What?" She said again, louder this time. "What do you think is the matter?"

"Shush," James whispered, "my parents will wake up."

"I couldn't care less," the witch said, her voice getting higher. "I won't be coming back here," she looked directly at Remus and met his eye, "you all disgust me."

"Lily," Remus sighed, "come on."

"You're all so incredibly small-minded."

"Her dad just murdered our friend," James said firmly.

"She's not-"

"She has it," Sirius interjected.

"There's a time where we have to stop trusting people, Lily. There's a war happening."

"Yeah? And what side are the werewolves on Remus? When do we stop trusting you?"

Sirius inhaled sharply and raised an eyebrow at James who looked at the woman he loved with complete anger.

"If you're going to-"

"I'm sorry, Remus," Lily cut in. "That wasn't fair."

He shrugged, "it's fine. But Romilly has picked her side, we can't chase her forever."

"How do you know she wanted it, though?"

"I'm sure she wanted her engagement to Regulus," Peter said suddenly. When all eyes were on him he continued, eager to continue to paint Juliet in an untrustworthy light. "Well come on, she's attached at the hip to him..."

"True," Sirius grunted.

"And wanting to marry Regulus Black is as good as wanting the dark mark," James finished. "No offence, Padfoot."

Sirius grinned, "none taken."

"Remus," Lily started, not wanting to give up. "It was you who followed her when you found out about her dad, you that comforted her-"

"Did you?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow.

The man swallowed a lump in his throat, "that was before."

"A mark on her arm changes things that much?"

"When we're on the brink of a full-blown war, yes it does Lily."

"She called our side the right side," the witch said sadly.

"How do we know she wasn't just using you both?" Sirius asked suddenly, "working for my brother, or for Malfoy, getting information out of us."

"She never asked a thing," Remus said quickly. "She wouldn't."

Lily smiled slightly at that.

"She had to tell us something important, she said," the witch continued. "I'm sure it was knowledge that would help us."

James shook his head, "it's not worth the risk, Lil. Right, lads?"

"Right," Sirius and Peter said.
