Jongin
Spending my days practicing dance was the only cure to help get my mind off of Kyungsoo. I tried so hard to understand his reason for not wanting to come back, I really did, but my heart was holding a blindfold over my eyes. I missed him and wanted our life together to go back to normal, that is as normal as it could possibly be.
"We're running out of time," Joonmyun said to us one day as he paced back and forth in the living room. "What exactly did he say to you, Kai?"
"He said he wasn't sure if he was ready to come back," I said, letting out a brief sigh and adjusting myself slightly on the couch.
"Maybe he doesn't want to come back," Sehun said sadly.
"That's ridiculous, Sehun. Don't say that," Baekhyun said, looking over at him.
"Well, you never know what he could be thinking," Sehun shrugged in defense.
"I know that, but I highly doubt that he's thinking that," Baekhyun said.
"Regardless of what he's thinking, the fact is he isn't here and we start practices for our comeback tomorrow," Joonmyun said, breaking up the mini-fight before it had the chance to begin.
"What do you suggest we do?" Minseok asked. "We can't force him to come back. That'd be wrong."
"But if we don't do that then..." Luhan started but couldn't finish.
"He's out of the group," Joonmyun said. There was one disappointed and sad silence that fell right on top of us at that moment. We didn't want to, but we all had to realize that this was the way things were meant to be. "I'll call the manager," he said with an unhappy sigh, turning around and walking toward the kitchen.
The next day, much to our dismay, we all woke up early in order to start our comeback preparations. We all knew it would be weird doing it with Kyungsoo, but it was all part of the whole "moving on" concept that we all hated so very much.
"Kai, we're leaving," Joonmyun shouted from out in the living room. "We'll be in the practice room, so just come down whenever you're ready."
"Okay," I replied, drying my damp hair with a towel. There was really no rush to get ready, at least not for me. I figured that if I didn't have anything to look forward to, why should I rush?
I finished up in the bathroom and then went into my room to get dressed. I always tried to look away from his side of the room every time I walked in there. It would only manage to make me feel even more lonely and pathetic than I already was. Just as I was almost completely dressed, I was startled by a sudden knock on the door. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion at first, but then started walking out of the room. I heard another knock a few seconds later, this one being a little louder than the first.
"I'm coming!" I said as my steps drew closer to the door. I finally reached it and twisted the door open, only to see Kyungsoo standing there, looking like a lost puppy.
"Hi," he said in a quiet and soft voice, looking at me with his big eyes.
"What are you doing here, Kyungsoo?" I asked, no particular tone highlighting my voice. "You should be at home."
"I know, I just..." he said, his voice stopping as he became choked up. "I just wanted to talk, if that's okay with you."
"I don't know," I sighed, pushing some of my hair back. "We have practice today, so I don't have a lot of time."
"No, yeah, I understand," he said, trying to cover up the disappointment in his voice with a faint smile.
"I'm sorry..." I said, looking down a little and letting my voice trail off slightly.
