Y/N'S POV:

Dazzling rays of pastel pinks, vibrant yellows and fiery orange-red peeked over the horizon as the sun rose, signifying the start of a new day. To me, it was more than just a new day- it was the start of a new life. Beams of sunrise filtered through the window, scattering colourful hues all around the room.

I stirred awake, shielding my eyes from the blinding sunlight, and for the first time in a while, I awoke with a smile on my face. A genuine smile. Only hours ago, we did the impossible. Only hours ago, had we made history and had found the Royal Merchant gold.

Only hours ago did our lives change forever.

Twisting around in bed, I was now facing JJ, who was still sleeping peacefully, his arms wrapped around my waist. Soft snores left his slightly parted lips as he stayed fast asleep, probably dreaming of gold. His hair flopped over his eyes, blocking me from seeing his full face.

Slowly, I raised my hand, gently brushing his blonde hair out of his face and running my hands through it, relishing in its softness, loving the way it felt when entwined in my fingers. My eyes wandered over his features, memorising every detail of his face- his fluttering eyelashes that made my heart melt, his chiselled jaw that would always tense when he was angry, his pink lips that I had grown so attached to. My hand moved from his hair, stroking over his cheek and jawline, before cupping his cheek softly in my hand.

He was mine.

I couldn't believe my luck. This man before me was mine, and I was his. I don't know what I did to deserve someone like him, but one thing was for sure- I would do anything to keep what we have.

"Done staring?" JJ spoke, his gruff morning voice startling me out of my daydream. He had a small smirk on his face as his arms tightened around my waist, pulling me in closer to his body.

"No, actually. Do you mind, baby boy?" I replied with a smile, reminiscing over last nights activities. His smirk dropped and he fake pouted. "That nickname was a one time thing. Don't get too comfortable with it," he huffed, though he was smiling now. His eyes fluttered open and at once, I was reminded of the reason why I first fell for JJ.

Those damn blue eyes.

It was merely impossible to look away once you made direct eye contact with them- they just drew you in and in, until you couldn't look away, you simply didn't want to. They held so much emotion whenever JJ looked at me that I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing he doesn't look at anyone else like that. Regardless of the situation, his eyes always managed to show enormous amounts of love for me and his friends, and it reminded me of how loyal JJ was.

"You okay there?" he asked smugly, knowing that I was caught up in a cloud of thoughts about him. He knew me too well.

"Never better," I responded, kissing his cheek before snuggling further into his body, my face in the crook of his neck. After all the things us Pogues have been through, we deserved a lie in.

"We did it, Princess. We found the gold."

"To going Full-Kook," I laughed, and for once, I believed it.

"Do you know the first thing I'm gonna do when I get my share?" JJ said, pulling away to look at me. I looked at him, waiting for him to continue. "I'm gonna buy a ring."

"A ring?" I questioned, confused as to why he would buy that first, out of everything.

"An engagement ring. Because, Y/N Y/L/N," my heart was in my throat as he leaned on one elbow, looking over me, his eyes burning into mine, "I'm going to marry you."
