It was May, and Camila was promoting her new single, which was soaring up the charts. Today, she was about to do an interview with the infamous DJ Trouble. His name was fitting because he was known for being controversial, and Camila was nervous.

“Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Today, we have the lovely Camila Cabello with us who has just brought us her hot new single. How are you doing, beautiful?”

“I’m great, and you aren’t looking too bad yourself.” Camila knew how to play the game.

DJ Trouble snorted, “You’re 19, right? Hahaha! I know you’re here to talk about your music, but this wouldn’t be the DJ Trouble show without getting dirty. Tell me, how do you feel now that you’ve gotten rid of the dead weight?”

Camila was confused. “I’m not sure I know what you’re talking about.”

“Fifth Harmony!” DJ Trouble piped. “Let’s be honest. They were all talented, but they had no personality. No star quality. There was nothing unique about them.”

“They’re all amazing artists,” Camila argued.

“Okay, Ally’s acting probably because she couldn’t get a record deal, and the other three are in a group because they aren’t strong enough on their own. In the meantime, you’re seeing more success with your first single as a solo artist than Fifth Harmony ever saw with any of their singles. Who dated Austin Mahone? The other girls dated nobodies. Who is friends with Taylor Swift, Hailee Steinfield, and Selena Gomez? Meghan Trainor even said that you were her favorite to work with. We don’t need to be PC here. Say what’s on your mind.”

Camila didn’t know what to say, so she just sat there. “Earth to Camila!” shouted DJ Trouble. “We can’t have silence for too long on the radio.”

“I think I’m done with this interview.” Camila stood up and walked out of the studio.

Camila’s manager, Janelle Lopez, Fifth Harmony’s former manager, blocked her path out the building. “What are you doing? Are you crazy? You can’t just walk out of an interview, especially one with such a large audience.”

“I wasn’t going to sit there while he insults my friends,” Camila objected.

Janelle grabbed Camila by the shoulders and pulled her face close to hers. “They are not your friends anymore. This is business. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you. From now on, you get the interviewer to change subjects. Do not walk out. Do you understand me?”

“Yes,” Camila groaned.

It was June, and LDN was in Los Angeles filming the video for their new single. They were still working on their album, but wanted to get a single out quickly. Camila was releasing her album the last week of July, so theirs was scheduled to drop the first week of August.

“I’m usually confident about exposing skin, but I feel like we’re wearing underwear, “Normani exclaimed.

“That’s because we are wearing underwear. We’re in lingerie,” proclaimed Lauren.

Dinah disagreed, “I don’t know about you, but I feel sexy.”

“What’s up girls?” Rich Dollaz had just walked on to the set. “I’ve got some news for you. Your single is now number 3 on the hip hop/R&B chart and just broke into the top 40. Now, I know Camila’s single is in the top 10, but word on the street is that Epic is doing a little Payola if you know what I mean.”

The ladies started jumping up and down and hugging each other. Rich Dollaz interrupted, “I’m sorry to break up the party, but… First of all, I want to say you three look sexy, but Lauren and Dinah…In the words of Diddy, you’re just one cheeseburger away.” His phone went off, so he picked up the call and started searching for a quiet spot to talk. Normani stood there with her mouth wide open. Dinah wasn’t bothered by his comments. She was used to dieting off and on and knew she had to keep her Tongan genes in check. Lauren, on the other hand, was deeply affected. She struggled with sticking to a diet and envied Normani for her ability to stay so fit even though she often pigged out on chicken wings and Popeye’s. Lauren was convinced that she was going to take after her father in the weight department.

After the video shoot, the members of LDN went out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant. “Lauren, girl. Don’t tell me that’s all you’re gonna eat,” stated Dinah.

“I’m not that hungry,” Lauren insisted while picking over a side salad.

Normani leaned over to place her hand on Lauren’s. “Don’t listen to Rich Dollaz. You’re beautiful and curvy like a woman’s supposed to be. There is nothing wrong with being healthy, but starving yourself is not healthy. And, skinny is not cute.”

Lauren forced a smile. “Thanks, but I’m really not hungry.”
