After I got some well-needed rest, I got and started to pace around the cove, exploring it, it was truly a peaceful area. Since this place was very secluded and very well hidden, I figured that I could use this location to hide from the gang or just come here to enjoy the peace. I walked over to the other part and started to look around, I saw a burned patch in the grass and quickly got curious, I went over to check it out, I bent down to feel the burned patch, it was still warm, 'Whoever did this must still be here' I thought, this place must not be as secluded as I thought and that did sadden me a little as I was planning on using this place as my getaway place. I heard a growl suddenly being emitted from behind me, I warily turned around, and I froze when I saw it, a dragon, it had big green eyes and had jet-black scales covering its whole body, I immediately recognized it, it was a Night Fury, the unholy offspring of lightning and death, the most dangerous and elusive dragon known to man, no one had ever met a Night Fury and lived.
I immediately tensed up and could feel my heart pound faster. It started to slowly advance on me and I started to back up, I wanted to run but I knew from the dragon raids that it was faster, I wanted to scream for help but there was certainly no one around, even if there was, I doubt they would have helped me. I tripped on a rock and hit my head hard on the ground and I blacked out.
My eyes began to flutter open, I was blinded by the sudden brightness, I repeatedly blinked to adjust my eyes to my surroundings, the back of my head was sore, I rubbed the area where it hurt the most and started to look around, I was in the cove, my memories started coming back to me and I remembered the Night Fury, I frantically looked around, trying to spot the beast and I finally saw it, it was watching me with curiosity not too far away, I spotted the exit and immediately bolted, I did not want to spend any more time in that cove with a Night Fury. I kept running as fast as I could towards the direction of the village, I never once looked behind me in fear of seeing the dragon behind me, I eventually had to stop to catch my breath, it was then when I finally turned around, it was not there. I walked the rest of the way back, still constantly checking around me to see if it had followed me.
By the time I arrived back at the village, it was getting dark, I spotted Stoick and the gang heading up towards the great hall to get food, I grimaced at the sight of them, once they were out of sight, I quickly and quietly get back to the comfort of the forge without any trouble. I went to my little room and laid down. I heard footsteps coming towards me and my door flung open, it was Gobber and he was holding some food, "Here lad, I saw yer go into your room and thought yer might be hungry" he said to me.
"I am and thanks Gobber, for everything" I said to him, I was extremely grateful that he took care of me, he smiled and nodded and went back out, closing my door. I ate my food and soon found my thoughts wandering back to the cove, why didn't the Night Fury kill me? I had heard stories of how Night Furies never let anyone live to tell the tale but yet this one had spared me, even when I blacked out and it had every chance to kill me, it intrigued me how the 'unholy offspring of lightning and death' had let me go. I finished my food and laid down in my bed still deep in thought, I was definitely going to go back to the cove tomorrow to find out more.
I woke up very early the next day, it was still quite dark but I still got up anyways, I dropped by the storehouse and decided that if I wanted to get on the good side of the dragon, I needed to give it a snack, I got a large fresh fish and made my way into the forest. It was a long walk back to the cove and by the time I reached there, the sky had already turned blue. I peered my head into the cove, trying to spot the Night Fury but with no success, I threw the fish out into the open and waited, waited for the dragon to show itself, but it never did, I walked out and picked up the fish and started to carefully wander the cove trying to look for the black dragon. After minutes of no success, I sat down in defeat, 'Maybe it left' I thought to myself, after all, what dragon would stay on a dragon-killing island, but I was wrong. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a low growl coming from my left, I turned and saw the Night Fury, it was perched on a big rock. I slowly stood up as it made its way down the rock and positioned itself in front of me. It saw the fish in my hands and started to slowly crawl forwards, I held out the fish, waiting for it to come and eat it but the dragon suddenly jumped back and growled even louder, I followed its gaze and found that it was staring at my knife that was strapped to my right hip. I slowly took it out and dropped it, the dragon made a gesture with its head, signaling me to get rid of it, I picked it up with my foot and kicked it to the pond, the dragon seemed to calm down when I did this, I held out the fish towards the dragon again and it started to crawl forwards, it opened its mouth, revealing no teeth! "Toothless... I could have sworn you had-" I was cut off by the dragon extracting its teeth and lunging forwards, grabbing the fish and swallowing it whole, "-teeth" I finished.
