I was reluctantly walking back to the village after I finished playing with Toothless, it was already getting dark and I did not want to spend the night in the forest, the forest was quite dangerous at night, be it other wild dragons or hungry wild animals, so I quickened my pace and hoped to get back as soon as possible. I arrived at the village and saw Snotlout and his lackeys waiting in front of the forge, did they really have to beat me up everyday? This time however, I was determined not to get caught by them, but then again, I was always determined not to get caught by them, but this time, I had the advantage, they don't know I was still in the forest, they still thought of me as weak little Hiccup and would never dare be in the forest this late. So I waited on the edge of the village, waited for them to give up and return home, I could faintly hear them talking and could faintly hear my name once in a while in their conversations. It was quite a long wait, they were very keen on beating me up, but I was more determined than them, Finally, they seemed to give up, I chuckled silently as Snotlout threw his hands up in rage and stomped home, Ruffnut and Tuffnut separated from him and went to their own home. I waited for a few more moments and then quietly snuck back into the village, I looked around and made sure they were gone, it was already very late so I did not have to worry about any remaining villagers out in the village.
I arrived at the forge and gave the village one last look around to make sure I was not followed, a habit I seemed to have picked up at a young age, I closed and locked the forge's door and stumbled my way through the dark and eventually reached the door to my little room. I went in and started to settle down, I thought back at the events at the cove and Toothless, I had temporarily forgot about my problems in Berk, I didn't feel sad when I was playing with him, I had felt happiness! I smiled and closed my eyes and immediately went to sleep.
I woke up the next day feeling happy, an occurrence that hasn't happened for years. I got up thinking this was gonna be a great day, how very wrong I was. I went into the forge and saw Gobber sharpening some weapons, "Top of the morning Gobber!" I exclaimed happily,
"Mornin' Hiccup, could yer help me with some weapons?" He asked.
"Sure!" I said energetically, I went over to the weapons pile a started to sharpen it, it took me a while but I got it done, the weapon was not as badly damaged as the rest of the pile, I placed it down and continued working on other weapons. It took a lot of work and get me exhausted already, working in the forge was not easy, after a few hours, I finally got the pile done, I gently placed each weapon into a cart and turned towards Gobber, "Alright all done!" I beamed out happily with a wide smile.
"Good work lad, could yer give out the weapons" Gobber replied and my smile immediately dropped, I really did not want to deal with the villagers but there was no point in arguing with Gobber so I grumbled a bit and wheeled the cart into the center of the village. "W-Weapons here!" I stuttered out, I never liked speaking loudly in public, often because they ended in me being ridiculed and humiliated. The villagers turned to me and frowned, they did not like seeing me, they stomped towards the cart whilst glaring at me, I tried to keep my head down and avoid the stares but as they came closer, I was forced to look up, "U-Uh, the finished weapons are here" I said whilst grabbing a sharp sword and presenting it to a big bulky Viking, "Hands off my weapon Useless" He sneered at me, he forcefully snatched the weapon away from me and analyzed it, "Wow Gobber is an amazing worker, look at how sharp this is!" He said happily,
"U-Urm, actually, I sharpened that weapon, I sharpened all these weapons" I said timidly, all the villagers who were present at the weapons cart turned to me, and began their barrages of insults
"What, you did not do this, stop taking credit for something you didn't do" One of them said.
"Good one Useless!" Another one said whilst laughing.
