"Ellie, come here please" Meredith said as she was walking into the living room

Ellie-May, her and Derek's 4 year old daughter ran towards her "Yeah mommy?"

"Let's get you dressed. I have to go to the hospital and we'll go see daddy first"

"Daddy!" She clapped

"So, shoes and jacket on please" Meredith smiled

"Kay mommy! We go see sissy?" Ellie asked

"Baby, we don't know yet if it's a baby brother or baby sister" Meredith smiled "Now, let's get ourselves ready" Meredith said and put on Ellie's shoes and jacket

"Mommy too!" Ellie smiled

"Yes, me too" Meredith said and took a seat to put on her shoes "Come on, we're going in the car and we can sing while we drive to the hospital" Meredith said and grabbed Ellie's hand

Meredith buckled the little girl in the booster seat and brushed away her blonde wavy hair with her fingers and tucked it behind her ears

"Can I come see sissy?" Ellie asked

"I'm not sure, baby. We'll talk to daddy" Meredith replied

"I wanna see sissy!" Ellie yelled

"We're not even sure if it's a girl" Meredith laughed

"I am!" Ellie giggled

Meredith parked the car in the parking lot and got Ellie out. She grabbed her hand and the two of them walked inside, going straight to Derek's office

"Don't forget to knock first!" Meredith reminded the girl

Ellie ran the last bit and knocked on the closed door but didn't wait for a reply and ran into the room

"Ellie-May!!" Meredith gasped and quickly ran after her

When she entered the room she saw Ellie already sitting on Derek's lap

"But daddy, please" Ellie whined

"Okay but you have to be quiet" Derek agreed

"I told you to knock" Meredith said out of breath

"I knocked!" Ellie stated

"But you didn't wait till the person inside told you to come in" Meredith winked

"Didn't know" Ellie shrugged her shoulders

"We should go to OB" Derek stood up with Ellie in his arms and kissed Meredith's lips

"I can't wait to see this little one" Meredith smiled and her hands rested on her belly

"Me neither" Derek said and kissed her belly

"Me too!" Ellie screamed and Derek held her in front of Meredith's stomach

"Now let's go" Meredith laughed and she and Derek held hands as they continued their walk to the OB floor

"Good morning guys" Arizona said as she walked to Meredith and Derek

"Hi" Ellie quickly replied

"Hey Arizona" both Derek and Meredith said

"Ready for today?" Arizona asked, being her bright self

"We can't wait" Derek smiled and rubbed Meredith's stomach

"Okay Meredith. How far along are you now?" Arizona asked

"I'm about 20 weeks along. We haven't had an ultrasound yet since the 8th week" Meredith told her

"Do you guys wanna know the gender?" Arizona asked

"Sissy!" Ellie spoke up "I'm getting a sissy"

"We don't know yet but she keeps saying she'll get a sister" Meredith smiled

"Any preference?" Arizona asked

"Not really. I would like two girls, as long as the baby's healthy" Derek replied

"Let's see if you're gonna get a baby brother of baby sister" Arizona told Ellie

"Where's Fia?" Maddie asked

"She's with her other mommy, they're going out today for some shopping" Arizona smiled

"Cool" Maddie replied

"This will be cold." Arizona reminded Meredith and started the ultrasound. She examined the baby with a straight look on her face "It's a baby girl" Arizona smiled and quickly paged a nurse

"I'll show it to you in a bit" Arizona said and waited until the nurse arrived

"Ellie, can you go with Linda? I have to discuss something with your parents first" Arizona said and panic raised on both Derek and Meredith's faces

"What's wrong?" Meredith asked, her voice breaking

"I- I'm so sorry" Arizona quietly said

"Tell us what's wrong!" Derek raised his voice

"Your baby has no brain. I'm very, very sorry" Arizona told them

"She- what?" Meredith gasped

"But how? This can't.. no! I'm a neurosurgeon and you tell me my daughter doesn't have a brain? Show me!" Derek yelled

"I'm really sorry" Arizona said and showed them the ultrasound

"She's beautiful" Meredith started sobbing "This must be a mistake"

"I'm sorry, it's not" Arizona replied "I'll give the two of you a moment to process"

"Der.. this can't be true" Meredith whispered

"It's a girl" He looked at the screen that was turned off "You're a girl" He laid his hand on Meredith's stomach but Meredith was staring at her stomach. Not moving a muscle

"Mer.." Derek tried to get her attention

Meredith didn't respond

"Mer, please.. I need you to answer me" Derek grabbed her hand

"I.. our baby?" Meredith asked

Derek nodded

"What- Do we need to think.. I-" Derek stuttered

"So you think I should carry her full term?" Meredith said sternly and sat up

"Shouldn't we try? There have been babies who survived over 3 years, what if we can find her treatment? We don't know the extension of the situation as long as she's in your womb" Derek said

"I.. I can't think, Derek. I- I have no idea what to do"
