"Ellie, come on sweetie, hurry! We have to go to the hospital" Derek said as he walked Meredith to their car

"I'm here!" Ellie yelled

"Mommy packed you some toys and pajamas. Uncle Richard and aunt Adele will take you home" Derek said

"Kay daddy" Ellie smiled and Derek helped her get inside of the car

Meredith was groaning in pain as a contraction hit her body

"Mommy are you kay?" Ellie asked as she rubbed her eyes

"I'm okay, Ellie" Meredith faked a smile as she breathed through the pain

"Your baby sister is coming, that's why mommy's in pain" Derek said

"Sissy is coming now? But daddy, I don't wanna go to uncle Rich! I wanna see sissy" Ellie frowned

"There will be time for you to meet your sister, Ellie but you can't stay during the birth" Derek tried to explain as tears streamed down Meredith's face as she knew what was coming

"I wanna stay in the hospibable" Ellie muttered and even if she was angry, her mis pronouncement would always be the cutest thing on earth

"Ellie, not now please" Derek sighed as he saw Meredith crying and grabbed her hand

The rest of the car ride was silent. Ellie had no clue if she should say anything and while Derek tried to drive as safe as possible to the hospital, his hand was being crushed while Meredith was having another contraction just a bit before they reached the ambulance bay

"Someone park my car!" Derek yelled as he stepped out of the car and ran to Meredith's side

"Hey Ellie, you wanna come with me? We can go to Adele and watch a movie" Richard said as he opened the door

"No, uncle Rich! Wanna stay in the hospibable to meet my sissy!" Ellie frowned

"Meredith, Derek, is it okay if she would sleep in one of your offices?" Richard asked them

"Take mine" Meredith groaned "Her bed is there"

Richard nodded and lifted Ellie onto his hip "Let's get a snack and then we'll go play a bit" Richard said and nodded at Derek who helped Meredith sit down in a wheelchair

"Let's go" Addison said as she pushed Meredith inside

"It started?" Alex asked as he catched up with them

Meredith nodded as she kept sobbing

Derek grabbed her hand again. He had no idea what to tell her as all comfort in the world still wouldn't be enough for either of them to get through this

"Derek, did we make the right decision?" Meredith asked with a lot of vulnerability

"We did, Mer. We did" Derek told her and she nodded

As the doctors and nurses got her installed in the hospital room, Derek climbed into bed next to her

"Are you sure you don't want any drugs?" Derek frowned, knowing she asked for them while giving birth to Ellie and not regretting it a second

"I need to feel, Derek" She told him as she clenched onto him

"You'll feel. I just don't want you to see go through this amount of pain" Derek whispered and kissed her head

"I- should I?" Meredith stuttered

"I only want your opinion, Mer. Whatever you decide" Derek grabbed her in his arms

"Can you page Addi?" Meredith whispered after a couple of minutes

Derek nodded and quietly paged Addison

Meredith took an epidural, it's now around 5 in the morning and Meredith had been progressing slowly but she wasn't angry. She needed the little girl to stay inside of her, this was the only way to keep the baby safe and alive

Meredith and Derek just stayed in each other's arms with occasionally a small talk to each other or with the little baby inside Meredith's womb

"Okay Meredith, I'll take a look at how dilated you are" Addison said as she walked into the room "Okay Meredith. You're almost ready, it won't take long from now. I'll get everything and everyone ready" Addison said and left the room again

"Derek, I can't do this" Meredith panicked

"Yes you can!" Derek encouraged her

"No, she's gonna leave my body and she's gonna die! She's gonna die, Derek! Meredith started yelling

"Yes Mer, she's gonna die. But not pushing will be worse for both her and you, you can do this" Derek cupped her face in his hands

Meredith nodded and started crying again

Alex walked into the room with all the stuff to take care of the baby as good as possible in a try to keep her alive for at least a couple of days

Once he was done he sat down on Meredith's bed and grabbed her hand "You'll do great. We're all here to help you, Derek and Ellie through this, okay?"

Meredith and Derek both nodded "Thanks" Meredith whispered and squeezed his hand

"Here's the deal. Once your baby girl is born, both me and Addison will give her the best care possible. Once she's okay, you both can meet her and once you guys are ready for it, Richard has Ellie and can be paged to bring her over"

"We want Ellie with us as soon as possible" Derek told Alex who nodded in response

"I'll let Richard know. Anything else?"

Both Derek and Meredith shook their heads while Addison returned and checked Meredith again

"Okay, Meredith. This is it, we can start any minute" Addison said and everyone got into positions. Derek got off the bed and held her hand as he brushed his fingers through Meredith's hair
