"Mer, do you want some more soup?" Derek asked her. She nodded and drank the soup Derek handed to her

"She's so perfect" Meredith whispered

"Her breathing is getting labored" Derek whispered back

"Der, are you.. okay?" Meredith tried to start a conversation

"I don't know. I mean, I know I'm not but I can't explain"

Meredith grabbed his hand "She couldn't have had a better dad"

"I just hate that we can't do a thing.." He sighed

Meredith nodded in agreement and drank the rest of her soup in once "Maybe.. maybe we need pictures" She whispered

"I can ask Alex to take some" Derek grabbed her hand as she nodded again and stroked Grace's hand

Their little baby who was in the incubator started squirming

"Shh, baby. Your mommy and daddy are here" She whispered "I'll miss that sound even if it's awful"

Derek nodded in agreement

"Meredith, Derek, we need to take her up for new scans" Alex said

"Can we come with her?" Meredith asked

Alex looked at Grace and eventually gave in

Derek helped Alex to push the incubator while Meredith was slowly following while holding herself steady against the wall as she was still recovering from giving birth and being exhausted after almost not sleeping

Meredith and Derek put on a vest to protect them as their little baby's lungs were getting checked out

Once they returned, Meredith and Derek heard people whispering around them constantly. Derek gave them a few stern looks while Meredith looked lost. She was pushing her body to bring her to her room again. She didn't even notice that Bailey walked up to her and grabbed her hand until she spoke up

"Meredith, are you okay?" Bailey asked concerned

"I'm fine" She whispered and continued

"When was the last time you've slept?" Bailey asked her

Meredith didn't respond and saw Derek looking behind him a few times to check if Meredith could still follow them

They all sighed in relief when they reached the room. Meredith collapsed on the bed while Derek took Grace out of the plastic box and joined Meredith in the bed. The little girl's hand touched her nasal cannula

"Hey, hey.. Not touching that" Derek laughed

It was bittersweet. They were happy she moved even if it was just a reflex of her nerves

"Let's cuddle with mommy" Derek smiled at Grace and placed the baby on Meredith's chest who's eyes were drooping "Take a nap, honey" Derek said

"Hmm" She groaned before falling asleep

"Derek, she's exhausted.." Bailey whispered

Derek's hand was resting on the back of Grace

"How's the little one doing?" Addison asked as she entered the room

"Sleeping with her mommy" Derek's voice cracked. "I wanna hear her cry, Addi. I need her to cry, grab our fingers, move and so much more!" He silently broke down

"I'm sorry" Addison whispered

"Wanna hold her?" Derek asked as he wiped away his tears

Addison nodded and took Grace into her arms "Hi Grace" She smiled and grabbed her tiny hand "You're so good"

"Sometimes I wish she would be awful" Derek quietly admitted "Maybe it would be easier to let go"

"Derek.." Addison sighed and let go of Grace's hand and grabbed Derek's instead

"I know it's awful to think that" Derek said

"It's understandable, Derek. Both you and Meredith are going through something awful" Addison explained

"Meredith is trying so hard to be okay. To keep us together like glue.. She suggested to take pictures"

"I know someone who's a photographer. I can ask him to come and take some pictures of you as a family with Ellie" Addison carefully suggested

"I think Meredith would really enjoy that" Derek softly smiled

"I'll call him once my cuddle time with this cutie is over" Addison smiled

"Sissy! Sissy! I wanna see my sissy!" A voice they all recognised ran into the room

"Quiet, Ellie" Derek laughed

"Sorry daddy!" She apologised and lifted her arms in the air so Derek could lift her up

"Hi sissy" Ellie said once she was onto Derek's lap

"I'm sorry. I saw Arizona and Ellie was asking me to go see her mommy and sister" Alex jogged into the room

"Don't worry" Derek smiled, his 3 girls reunited in the same room

"Mommy's asleep?" Ellie frowned

"Yeah, let her sleep for a bit longer" Derek said and brushed Ellie's blonde hair with his fingers

"Kay" Ellie smiled and grabbed Grace's hand "Daddy, I really wanted to play with Grace" She quietly admitted

"I'm sorry baby" Derek whispered as his voice cracked. He placed a kiss on top of Ellie May's forehead and tried to memorize every single second of his 3 girls being here together, it wouldn't take long before Grace would go into cardiac arrest
