Violence

The three of us went back inside when we noticed that Jade was already asleep. The six-pack beer that we bought was mostly finished by Jade. Apat ang naubos niyang lata ng beer at tig-isa lamang kami ni Nica. As expected, she cried and cried until she ran out of tears to release. Buong gabi ay hindi na ito nagsasalita, kundi puro na lamang mga hikbi ang lumalabas mula sa kaniya. 

Nagising na lamang ako sa ingay ng aking alarm clock. I reached for the phone placed on the side table and turned the alarm off. I moaned as I moved in closer to the person beside me. I grabbed the first pillow that I felt and pulled it towards my chest. Sinubukan ko pang bumalik sa pagkakatulog nang biglaan kong maalala na may lakad nga pala kaming tatlo ngayon.

I groaned as I sat right up. I rubbed my eyes with both of my hands and slid myself to the side of the bed. Ibinaba ko ang aking paa at isinuot ang pang-bahay na tsinelas. I walked towards the bathroom and did my usual routine. Naghilamos at nagsipilyo ako ng ngipin at pagkatapos ay lumabas na ng banyo. 

Binaling ko ang aking tingin sa kama, kung saan nakahiga pa rin ang dalawa kong kaibigan. Jade's left leg was placed over Nica's limb while her face was facing down the bed. Naglakad ako palapit sa kanila at kinalabit ito sa kanilang mga balikat. "Hey, get up. We still need to get back to the city before two," bati ko sa mga bagong gising na kaibigan.

I heard both of them let out a loud groan as they changed their positions on the bed. Kumuha pa si Nica ng isang unan at itinakip ito sa kaniyang mukha. "Get up!" sigaw ko sa dalawa.

"Mamaya na!" sigaw pabalik ni Jade.

I frowned as I looked back at Nica. "What time is it?" she asked with a raspy voice.

Tumingin ako sa pader kung saan nakalagay ang orasan. "Eight twenty-one," sagot ko.

"Ah, fuck," she whispered and sat up on the bed.

Pagkatapos bumangon ni Nica ay maya-maya'y sumunod na rin si Jade. Nagtimpla ako ng kape at nanguna nang maligo sa kanilang dalawa. Nang makatapos ay agad ko nang pinasunod si Nica. Umupo ako sa upuan at isinaksak ang blow dryer. I blow dried my hair and looked at Jade who's still drinking her coffee. "Mag-drive thru na lang tayo. Saan niyo gusto?" tanong ko.

She looked back at me and met my gaze. "Kayo na lang bahala. Wala pang pumapasok sa utak ko," lutang nitong sagot.

A few more minutes later, we were all ready to hit the road again. "Time check is nine forty-five. Makakarating tayo doon bago mag-two," banggit ni Nica. 

As usual, I was the one who's driving. Katabi ko sa passenger's seat si Jade habang si Nica ay nasa likuran, katabi ang mga bag at basura na nagamit namin. "Bili na tayo ng breakfast, Maia," aya ni Nica habang nakatingin sa kaniyang cellphone.

"But, we haven't even drove for half an hour yet. I don't know if there's a fast food restaurant nearby..." I trailed off.

"There's one. I see one on the map," she said and showed me the screen of her phone. I took a quick glance at it and immediately looked back on the road. We drove in a drive thru first before continuing to drive back home.

Ilang oras din ang tinagal bago kami nakarating sa syudad. Dumiretso na kaming tatlo sa sinabing mall ni Hugh na pagkakakitaan namin. Sabay kaming pumasok na tatlo at agad naglakad papunta sa Starbucks.

Before we even enter the store, we already saw a group of four men seated around one of the small tables. They looked like they were just talking to each other, none of them even had a single drink in hand.
