Lunch Date

The next day, Andre and I already left the place. It was already Monday, so we can no longer extend our trip. He's too busy to not leave the company alone. Sumabay na lang din ako sa kaniya dahil baka marami-rami na ring trabaho ang nakatambak sa aking desk.

The other visitors stayed there. Kaming dalawa lamang ang umalis. Kung sino pa ang mga ikinasal ay sila pa ang maagang nagsialisan. All of our parents stayed there, expect my father who also picked his job rather than staying longer.

Nang makarating kami sa syudad ni Andre ay balik kami sa reyalidad. We're back to our old lives again. Una niya akong inihatid sa aking condo bago siya umuwi sa kaniya. I took a long nap the rest of the time that I had when I got home.

Nagising na lamang ako ng maaga ng Lunes na. I did my usual routine when I have work. I tied my wavy hair up and let ny bangs loose. Nagsuot lang din ako ng simpleng puting blouse at pinaresan ito ng kulay camel na pencil skirt. Nang makapag-ayos na ay agad akong dumiretso sa pagpunta sa office.

Nang makapasok sa opisina ay patong-patong na mga folder ang nakatambak sa aking desk. I let out a sigh as I placed my bag down under my desk. "Welcome back, Imo!" bati sa akin ng isa sa mga kasamahan ko sa opisina. "You look blooming today! Iba glow mo, girl!" she exclaimed.

I looked at her and waved my right hand as I smiled. "Thank you," I said.

Nanlaki ang kaniyang mga mata kasabay ng biglaan nitong paglapit sa akin. She ran towards my direction as she immediately placed her cup of coffee down on my desk. She reached for my hand that was still on the air and pulled it towards her.

"May singsing ka bigla?" gulat na gulat nitong tanong sabay tingin sa aking daliri. Nanlaki nang kaunti ang aking mga mata kasabay ng maayos na pagharap ko rito. "You were gone for two days only. Did you get married?" tanong pa nito.

I let out an awkward laugh. "Oh, uhm..."

"It looks pretty and expensive! Ang daming diamonds na nakapaligid! Mayaman ba?" sunod-sunod nitong tanong as she continued to look at the ring.

I never really thought that they will still notice it. Is it that obvious if someone suddenly wears a ring? If it were me, I wouldn't notice it. I would assume that it's just a part of their fashion or outfit for the day.

She gave me a malicious look as she wiggled her eyebrows at me. "Kinasal ka 'no?" excited na excited nitong tanong. "Congrats, Imo! Omg, sana all! Tapos, mukhang mayaman pa napangasawa mo. Kilala ko ba?"

I gave her a small smile as I shook my head to the side. "Actually, no..." I trailed off. Fuck, I can't say that the one I married is the CEO of this company. I don't want anyone else to know about us! I want us to stay as co-workers in the public's eyes, and as a married couple only in our eyes. I want to keep it private.

If only they knew that it was only a marriage of convenience. We only did it because our parents wanted to.

"Ay, sayang. May kakilala ka pa bang iba? Yung gwapo sana at saka mayaman na rin! Ireto mo naman ako, girl. Nang swertehin din ako katulad mo!" sabi nito sabay tawa.

I laughed together with her as I slowly nodded. "I'll try if some of his friends are still available."

"Ay, bet ko 'yan! Salamat, Imo!" she said as she let go of my hands and got her coffee of my desk. Naglakad na ito palayo sa akin at papunta naman sa kaniyang desk. She has a wide smile painted on her face while she was cheerfully walking over to her table.

I can't really promise anything to her. The only one that I know who's single in Andre's friend is Hugh. I don't know about Kurt, though. We were never that close.
