Heartbreaker

Esther stood to speak on the stairs dressed in an elegant ball gown.

"I have an announcement to make. I'm pleased to finally say, that my Elijah proposed to his wonderful girlfriend Y/n last week and she said yes!" There was an applause.

Y/n smiled at him and they kissed.

"Embarking into marriage, means promising to love each other unconditionally no matter what secrets they may hold, no matter how bad their past may be. Loving and supporting each other through the difficult times and celebrating with them through the happy times. So I would like to raise a glass to Elijah and Y/n and wish them a happy marriage." Everyone raised their glasses and drank before Esther started speaking again.

"Oh and one more thing." She spoke taking her glass away from her mouth.

"Elijah slept with someone else..... the night before he proposed to Y/n." Everyone was silent.

"Cheers." Esther smiled raising her glass.

Y/n moved away from him, her smile fading from her lips.

"What?" She said in a shocked tone. "Elijah? Please tell me this is some kind of sick joke."

Y/n stood there in front of her fiancé with tears beginning to well in her eyes but not daring to fall. Hayley walked up beside him and placed a hand on his arm.

"No, not now." Elijah motioned to her.

"Wait a minute. Her?" She asked with a shakey voice gesturing over to them, piecing it all together.

He looked at her with guilt filled eyes and tears also beginning to well in his. Hayley didn't even look at her.

"So the promises to always be faithful and love me, they were what? All because you felt guilty? They were lie?" Y/n sobbed.

"No. I love you with all my heart, I just had a-a momentary lapse in judgement." He tried to defend himself. Hayley made a face, taking some offence from that.

"This is not a lapse in judgement Elijah. Cheating on someone, on your FIANCÉ is not a lapse in judgement." Y/n said, tears now streaming down her face. She looked at her engagement ring and took it off.

"No darling please. Can we go somewhere to talk about this?" He begged.

"I'm not your darling anymore." She sobbed, throwing the ring at him. Her hand swiftly met with Elijah's cheek, startling him and sending his own hand to his face.

"You're a bastard." She cried.

Y/n turned away and ran to the compounds exit.
Klaus opened his mouth as to say something as she ran past him but was not quick enough. He turned to Elijah.

"Of all the horrible things you have done in your life brother, this is beyond the worst. This is a new low even for you. And YOU MOTHER, that was not your place to tell her. How could either of you do this to her?" Klaus snapped at his brother and mother and then turned to follow Y/n.

Elijah vamped up to his mother on the staircase and grabbed her by the throat.

"How dare you? That was not your secret to tell her. Did you want to hurt me? Ruin the life of my love?" He snapped at her.

"You would never have told her. I did her a favour by ridding her of you and your siblings. She can live normally now." Right there and then Elijah dropped his mother and snapped her neck with a simple flick of his wrist, killing her instantly.
