Y/n walked in with Elijah entering after her. He closed the door and Rebekah stood outside eaves dropping on the conversation that was about to go down.

Y/n took the flask from her clutch and took a couple swigs before Elijah started talking.

"You're not causing a rift between me and my brother and believe me you're not the first girl we've both been in love with at the same time."

"Okay Elijah that sentence didn't make this decision any easier." She sighed. "Look I love you so much and I guess yes I've forgiven you for cheating but I also love Klaus. Those few months I spent with him opened doors to what could be between me and him. It was exciting and spontaneous and I had so much fun. If I do choose you, I can't go back to the way things were. Not straight back to being engaged, and movie nights and simple date nights. I want adventure. I want to go somewhere other than here. I want to see the world."

"We can go anywhere you want because we have the rest of our immortal lives to do so." He stepped forward closing the space between them. "I said that night after your accident that I wouldn't stop fighting to get you back to me and I meant it. I'll fight for another thousand years to keep you in my life." His hand cupped her cheek, locking their eyes on each other. "I've loved you since the moment I saw you and I'll love you until my very last."

"I know you will." She smiled holding onto the hand that was on her cheek. "I need time. That's all I'm asking for." Elijah nodded.

"Very well." His hands slid from her face and he exited the room. Rebekah's head poked round the door just after he left.

"We really need to chat about your situation." She stood with her hands on her hips in front of the now closed door.

"I've been waiting for this conversation with you for a while." Y/n spoke. "What do I do Bex? I have so much history with both of them, they both love me for who I am. I don't want to crush one of them." Rebekah pulled Y/n onto the chairs.

"Like Elijah said, you're not the first girl the two of them have both loved. The heartbroken one gets over it eventually albeit the heartbroken one is usually Nik."

"See? I can't put him through it again." She reached for her flask and took another couple swigs.

"Okay, we need to talk through why you love each of them. Why do you love Nik?" Rebekah asked.

"He's so sweet and... gentle and he would do anything for me. He would literally burn down a village if he knew it would keep me safe. He supported me through that horrible time in my life when I had no humanity. He showed me a side of himself that I doubt many people have seen and I feel honoured about that. He loves me unconditionally. Also the sex was unbelievable." She laughed.

"Gross." Rebekah sighed. "You know Klaus thinks you and Elijah are soulmates? He told me he thought he was your rebound."

"I would never use him as a rebound. That man helped me adjust to being a vampire." She said.

"What about Elijah?" Rebekah asked.

"Elijah has been has been my rock for the past 7 years. I've been through the most amazing times in my life with him and he supported me every step of the way when I said I wanted to go back to college. I was going to marry him, spend the rest of my life with him. He's so loyal and selfless. He'd always make sure I had everything I needed before he'd even think of himself. And he loves you guys more than you'll ever know."  Y/n said looking down at her hands.

"What would Lottie be telling you?" Bex asked.

"She loved Elijah for me. She screamed her head off when I told her we were engaged. She was never a big fan of Klaus." Y/n laughed. "What do you think Bex?"

"Honestly, in my opinion I think you should choose Elijah. I know I was furious with him when the truth came out at the ball but I could never stay mad because I knew cheating is something he would never do. If he's in relationship, that girl is his entire world and you've been his world for the past 7 years. I agree with Nik on the path of you and Elijah are soulmates." She said.

Y/n sighed. "Oh man, I have a lot of thinking to do."

"You do, but right now we're going to go back downstairs to that party and drink our body weight in wine and cocktails." Rebekah towered over her, holding out her hand to Y/n. She grabbed it smiling and followed her out of the room.

Back downstairs the party had properly begun. The music was now blaring at full volume and the dance floor was full of single people grinding all over each other. Y/n looked around for Cami and saw her swaying her hips against some random guy.

"I guess she's currently occupied." Y/n laughed as Rebekah approached her with a glass of wine.

"So where's that gorgeous husband of yours?" Y/n asked.

"I sent him off to get us drinks before I eaves dropped on your conversation with Elijah and now I have a feeling he's doing drinking games with his other friends." She smiled. Just as she said that a loud cheer came from the direction of the bar. The two of them looked over to see Marcel doing a line of 5 shots.

"See." Rebekah rolled her eyes. Y/n laughed sipping her wine.

The night came to an end a few hours later and Y/n still hadn't seen Klaus at all. Elijah smiled at her every time they'd made eye contact but they didn't talk again. Cami was off with a guy called Declan and Rebekah and Marcel had snuck off too. Y/n was left at a table by herself drinking the last bit of what felt like her 20th glass of wine. She was approached by Kol who was surprisingly sober.

"Have you been abandoned by your friend my darling?" He smiled sitting beside her.

"Yeah, she's off getting lucky." She said.

"Do you want a ride home? I'm about to head out anyway."

"What about Davina?" Y/n asked.

"Well." He gestured over to Davina who was on the dance floor with a bottle of champagne in her hand. "I'll be coming back to put her to bed and prepare for the mighty hangover she'll have tomorrow."

"Okay, yeah I'll take that ride." She grabbed her clutch from beside her and headed to the door with Kol.
