Rebekah greeted Y/n at the entrance as she walked into the compound.

"He's not here." She greeted with a faint smile.

"Good. I know I said I want to see him and talk to him but not today. It'll just set me off again." Y/n replied.

"His door is unlocked so you can let yourself in. Just let me know if you need anything." Rebekah said as she hugged Y/n.

"Thanks Bex." Y/n pulled herself out of the hug and headed upstairs to Elijah's room.

She stood at the door and looked around, having all the feelings rush back.

Her eyes caught sight of a photo lying on the bed. It was her in her graduation cap and gown while on Elijah's back kissing his cheek as he was grinning at the camera. She remembered that day like it was yesterday. How happy they were. How they celebrated her graduating college.

Y/n placed the photo down back on the bed and made her way to her set of drawers. Her makeup was neatly organised on the top with a couple photos placed at each corner. That was Elijah's doing.

She opened her bag and placed it all in until the top was cleared. Grabbing another bag, she began stuffing her clothes in it, not caring if it wasn't folded properly. She pulled out the last three shirts and threw them on the bed without realising she had dropped one.

Her next stop was the bathroom. Her toothbrush and perfume were sitting on the edge of the sink. She again threw them into her bag. She reached into the shower, grabbing her shampoo, body wash and razor, placing them on top of her clothes.

The final stop was Elijah's drawers. She'd always kept a couple of her t shirts in there so when she went to wear them, they'd smell of him and give her comfort when she needed it. She pulled them out and stuffed them in her bag without a thought.

Slamming the drawer shut made one of Elijah's frames tip forwards and fall. She picked up and put it back in its place.

This photo was of her and Elijah at her sisters wedding. Y/n was of course a bridesmaid so she was in a long elegant lilac gown. Elijah was looking as dashing as ever in his suit. Her sister had snapped the pic of them slow dancing. Their faces were inches apart but they were smiling at each other. Ear to ear massive grins. Y/n's arms were wrapped around his neck and his hands were around her waist. They'd danced all night long until the party came to an end.

Going back to the bed and grabbing her last remaining shirts, she picked up the first photo and looked at it one last time. She smiled sadly at it, placed it down and headed towards the door.

As she opened the door she bumped into a hard chest in a suit. Elijah. This is the last thing she wanted right now.

"Y/n." He said his hands resting on her waist as he'd had a fright when she'd opened the door. She froze not looking up at his face, her eyes focused on his tie that was in her vision line. She took a step back away from him, his hands dropping to his side as he followed her into the room.

"You're moving out already? Can we talk? Please." He was practically begging.

"I can't Elijah." She said gripping her bags and almost running away from the room. She bumped into Rebekah as she headed towards and the exit.

"Did you get everything?" She asked before hearing Elijah calling her name from upstairs.

"Y/n!" He yelled. Rebekah looked up at him in slight shock.

"I'm so sorry I didn't know he'd be home so soon. I didn't even hear him come in." She panicked.

"It's fine. It's fine Bex don't worry." She said gently holding her wrists. "I'm gonna go though, I-I need to go." She let go of Rebekah and threw herself through the doors and towards her car.

Elijah watched her walk away, guilt and sadness burning through him. He turned and made his way back to his room, closing the door behind him and leaning against it. His eyes met the photo frame lying on the bed that he had been looking at all night.

He sat on the edge of his bed with the frame in hand. He could hear footsteps coming towards the door, knowing it would be Rebekah.

She opened it. "Elijah." She stopped when she saw him looking at the frame. She perched next to him smiling at the photo.

"I remember this. Y/n was grinning all day long and when it came to pictures, she made sure to get ones with all of us in them because she called us her family. We were all so proud of her." Rebekah reminisced causing Elijah to wipe a tear from his eye.

"Why?" Rebekah asked. He knew exactly what she was asking. Why did he cheat on Y/n?

"I don't know." He sniffed as he was visibly upset. "I don't love Hayley."

He handed Rebekah the photo and walked around the other side of his bed to Y/n's drawers. He just looked at it, at how empty it was. He noticed her t shirt lying on the floor where she'd dropped it. He picked it up and smiled. It was the t shirt she was wearing when she and Elijah made breakfast for the whole family.

The two of them were in the kitchen measuring out ingredients to make pancakes. Both of them in their comfy clothes. Y/n in an old t shirt and shorts, Elijah in grey joggers and a white t shirt.

They made as many pancakes as they had batter for which turned out to be about 20. They invited the rest of the family in and they set out a whole little feast for them.
When everyone was full, they all sighed and leaned back in their chairs.

"Well I'm so glad you fell in love with a proper chef Elijah. Definitely tops your last attempt at pancakes." Kol joked.

"Honestly Y/n that was amazing." Rebekah spoke.

Y/n smiled. 'Well thank you but I couldn't have done it without the help of my sous chef." Elijah laughed.

"No, this was all you darling." He leaned in to kiss her before she pulled away and went to put some chocolate sauce on his nose but her hand slipped and put it on his t shirt.

"Oh. Oops. Not as romantic as I thought that was going to be." She laughed. Elijah picked up the dollop of sauce from his t shirt and licked his finger.

"Mm delicious." He spoke before leaning in and kissing her.

Elijah lifted the shirt to his face and inhaled. It smelled like her. Her perfume. He rushed back over to his drawers to see if those shirts were still there. His heart sunk when he realised they weren't.

"I can take it back to her, if you like." Rebekah said starting to feel some sympathy for her brother. Elijah shook his head.

"No, I'll take it." He placed the shirt into his drawer. "Later though, she wouldn't even look at me when I bumped into her."

"Okay, I'll give you some time. Call me if you need anything okay?" Rebekah said. Elijah nodded.

Y/n got into her car and slammed it shut. She whipped out her phone and called Klaus. Doing this while driving away from the compound as quickly as she could.

"Hello love." Klaus answered.

"Hi, did you get the apartment sorted?" Y/n replied flustered.

"Yes, it's ready for you to move in whenever you wish. Fully furnished also. Cami is in the apartment right across the hall so you've got-" Y/n cut him off.

"Okay great, I'm on my way now. See you in a bit bye." She hung up her phone and focused on the road, getting herself to the apartment complex.
