The test

From the moment Sans embraced madness, he could not believe that he would encounter something again in his life that would cause him the feeling of surprise. Because fighting forever against a child with the power to go back in time, stealing this power and then restarting the killing cycle for Sans was already the height of strangeness that his life would reach. But then a creature half skeleton and half octopus covered in petroleum appeared and suddenly called himself his new king.

- And just when you think you've seen it all..., but what makes you think I... – But then his speech was interrupted by the intruder.

- I don't have the time or patience for meaningless conversations, in case you haven't noticed yet, you don't have a choice. - Followed by an annoyed tone of voice, a tentacle quickly grabbed Sans around the waist and lifted him into the air. - But first you have to pass a little test, but let's do it in a place where you can't disturb everything by messing with the timeline.

Before Sans could understand what was happening, his whole body was covered by the strange black substance, thus blocking his vision. When he could see again, his surroundings changed and he noticed that he was in a strange forest that he had never seen before.

His first thought was that this might be an underground region that he had never seen until now, but he quickly dismissed this idea since it would be impossible to not know a region as large as a forest after so many RESETS. But luckily for him, Nightmare was quick to explain where they were.

- This AU is called UnderWorld, the monsters here have been modified thanks to the recklessness of the human who abused his powers. Some are pathetic like the amalgamated ones, but others have undergone interesting changes that make them stronger than their standard counterparts, which means you will have a certain challenge. - Putting Sans down and releasing him from his tentacle, Nightmare continued his explanation. - Your goal is simple, kill everything that moves. But don't forget that this is not your AU, so if you die here it's game over for good, no more RESETS for you. Any questions?

An awkward silence followed for a few seconds before Sans shouted.

- What the hell is all this?! AU? UnderWorld? No more RESETS? What the hell is going on here? - Even Sans' lack of standard emotions did not leave him immune to the absurdity of what this situation presented him with. - And if you think I'm going to do what you say like a dog, then you... - Again his speech was interrupted when his body was grabbed by one of Nightmare's tentacles, but unlike before, this time this strange being was not so gentle.

Without any apparent effort, Nightmare's extra limb caused Sans to crash to the ground several times as he struggled uselessly to free himself, until his attacker finally decided that enough was enough and released him.

- You're going to start your test injured, that's already a bad start. Now unless you want to be beaten again, I suggest you do as I say, just kill everyone. That shouldn't be anything new for you, killer. - After these words, the creature covered by the strange black substance disappeared, leaving an injured and extremely confused Sans behind.

With a little effort, Sans tightened his grip on his knife as he stood up and tried to gather his thoughts correctly. He soon came to the conclusion that if he really wanted better explanations of what was going on, then he needed to accomplish the task he was given.

Choosing a random direction and starting to walk towards it, Sans slowly noticed certain similarities in the forest he was in. Although it was not exactly the same, it was the same forest as Snowdin's, but soon the little skeleton spotted something that definitely should not exist in this city.

Wandering aimlessly, an amalgam of various monsters constantly emitted incomprehensible sounds. Eventually it noticed Sans' presence and began to head in his direction.
