Tears kept pouring from Blue's eyes, not because the bones in his body were broken, but because he had to witness his friend suffer both physically and mentally in this way. At the beginning of the battle, a possibility of victory was vague, but still existed. Until Nightmare decided to stop playing games and started fighting for real.
Spreading the black substance that corrupted his body all over the place, figures that had the same shape as the original inhabitants from DreamTale appeared, but with disturbing and fearful features. These were the same inhabitants that Dream chose over his family and were later killed by Nightmare.
With distorted voices, these figures taunted the guardian of positivity by torturing him with both truths and distorted facts of his decisions in his life. Above the battle raging between Dream and these creatures, was Nightmare leaning on his tentacles that now stretched dozens of meters.
- How do you expect to save others if you can't save yourself? - Said one of the peasants composed of the guardian goo of negativity.
Knowing that it was no one but his own brother who spoke through them, Dream was unmoved and cut him in half with his blades. But no matter how many of these he defeated, more always came.
- Why didn't you save us when he killed us? - This time it was the figure of a child that was heard, but his words again did not reach Dream.
- How long are you going to keep doing this? Come down here and... - As requested, the guardian of negativity struck down with his tentacles that now stretched several meters from the top to the ground, hitting his brother without mercy.
After a while, Blue simply closed his eyes because he already knew the outcome of the confrontation. He expected to hear his friend's screams, but to his surprise what followed was the shrill voice of his attacker.
Opening his eyes again, Blue could see Dream's aura shining with a blinding golden light. And it was at this moment that the little guardian noticed all the inhabitants of HeavenTale who were nearby, generating the positive energy that their hero needed along with cries of cheering and encouragement.
The battle between the brothers had been going on for a long time and it was no secret to anyone with knowledge of the multiverse, so upon witnessing the one who had saved and helped them countless times, both humans and monsters from one of the most positive AU's that existed gave their support to their champion who was able to convert all the energy of positivity and encouragement into power to fight.
Such a feat managed to put the two fighters on equal footing, even if momentarily. But the King of Nightmares had come too far to be interrupted by something like this.
- Dust! Kill those worms! - Shouted Nightmare without losing focus of his fight, but to his chagrin, no movement could be seen on the part of the hooded Sans. A choice was before Dust at the moment, and in his mind countless thoughts regarding what to do had him practically frozen in place. - What are you doing you worthless bag of bones? Kill them!
Should his boss be victorious, the multiverse as a whole would suffer forever at the hands of a tyrant, but for someone like Dust it mattered little, since he had long since stopped caring about others. What did concern him, however, was that his future would be forever sealed as a lackey sent on missions to cause pain and misery, and that would be the summary of his life.
There would be no free will, and any attempt to have a more peaceful life away from violence as he wanted would not be possible. Dust is not deluded to believe that someone who has come as far as he has would be able to completely escape his past, his heinous actions would haunt him forever, but at least he would no longer be adding negative karma in continuing the cycle of violence. But a life like the one he wanted would not be possible with his boss in power.
