"For the past week you all have been given simple training, like how to climb a building swiftly, how to cover most distance with minimal movement, how to be stealthy and so on. Now your real training will start." Markus told Issac and all the males of his group that stood in front of him. They looked intrigued and even happy by the thought of real training. But their happiness faded when they saw Nyx enter the room.
A week passed by and they all were still intimated by her, scared even, except Issac. It was not because of something she did. Maybe something she said. But it was her eyes that scared them the most. And her tone.
"You called me Markus?" She asked him without sparing a single glance to any other person in the room.
And her attitude was most certainly the most intimidating thing about her.
"Yes." He replied looking at her and then turned towards the guys, "She will be training you from tomorrow onwards." He announced and watched as their already pale faces became even more pale. It was as if someone has sucked all of the blood out of them.
"I think we talked about it." Nyx said immediately. There was a strange edge to her voice.
"Yes we did. And you will be training them now." He replied looking straight in her eyes as if he didn't understand the underlying message in that sentence.
Markus, totally opposite of the guys in Issac's group was not even slightly intimidated by her. If anything it was her, who looked affected by his presence.
"They are gonna stay here now. You will be working together. So, you need to get along with them." Markus added.
"It's not necessary that I get along with everyone..." She was saying with the same strange edge when Markus interrupted her, "I wasn't asking."
Nyx immediately went quite for a few seconds that were feeling like minutes. She held gaze with him, a strange vulnerability in her eyes that was only noticeable to Markus, as if saying 'don't do this'. But Markus' gaze didn't waver.
This whole 'talking with their eyes' thing was becoming more and more common for Issac's group to witness but they probably will never get used to the intensity of it. It seemed that all of their conversation, whatever small conversations they did in front of the group were always intense.
No one made any move or said anything to break the spell of the awkward silence that befell the place. Just when it got beyond awkward and almost unbearable, Nyx ripped her gaze from Markus and looked at all of them, individually.
"I don't know what you have been doing for the past four years. But that stops now. From tomorrow onwards, mutants will be the least of your problems. Because they can't kill you if you are already dead." Nyx shouted, standing in front of them with her hands in her pockets. Her short, black hair were pushed back with the help of a slick, thin, black hairband that was only visible because of the light bouncing off of it. She was wearing her usual all black attire. It was as if she owned nothing but black clothes which didn't seem that far-fetched given her personality.
She looked all of them dead in their eyes and they were hesitant to meet her gaze. Even Aiden who usually didn't care about her intense eyes was looking anywhere but her.
"Be ready at 5 tomorrow. Sharp. I don't like people that slack off." She said looking from side to side at all of them and then started walking towards the door.
