"So are there any questions you have?" Ezra asked bringing everyone's attention to herself from the door they were looking at as Althea left.
They all just stared at her blankly and then Issac said, "I guess no. If we have any questions, we will ask you later. That's fine?"
"Yup." She replied and started walking towards the door.
Aiden's voice stopped her, "Wait a minute," and she turned back around.
"Althea said before that she has heightened sense of hearing and you have sense of smell. I don't think I have any of those. Isn't that part of the whole 'better senses' deal?"
"Yeah, well. You can or cannot have that. First of all, there are only three type of heightened senses that we know about and have found in people so far, hearing, smell and visibility. Not many people have it. Pardon me. Hybrids."
"Okay. Think of it this way. When you become a hybrid, you get better senses, better vision, better hearing and everything. You also get more strength. That's for sure. That's a part of the 'better senses' deal. But it's not necessary that you get a heightened sense. Only some get them. And one sense per person. If I have smelling ability, I can never have a heightened vision, at least from what we have found so far." Ezra explained trying her best to give some examples and make it easy for them to understand.
"This whole process of turning into hybrids from humans, it's based on our DNA and genetics. We don't get a say in this, any of it." She said, explaining further.
"Humans don't get to choose if they have a good sense of humour or if they are intelligent. Similarly, we don't get to choose if we get heightened senses or if we even turn into hybrids at all. It's just some random biological shit that we have to deal with. No other way around."
"So, there is no way of knowing who will change into what?" Issac asked seriously and Ezra shook her head.
They all sat there with straight faces. After a while of silence, Ezra finally spoke up, "Well I guess that's all. You all can leave now. If you have any questions later, feel free to ask." And she moved towards the door.
As she left, Issac followed her before the rest of them got up.
"Are you okay?" He asked her in a low voice.
"Yeah. I am fine." She replied glancing at him.
"You don't look fine. You have been behaving weird lately." He pointed while furrowing, before continuing, "Is it because of those Ravens?" Her eyes widened at his words.
"Markus told me." He answered her unspoken question as the rest of his group passed by and they both smiled at them.
After all of the people left, she turned towards him and asked, "When?"
"Yesterday." He answered.
"Talk to me?" He offered but Ezra smiled at him politely before turning him down, "I can't."
"Top secret?" She nodded at him.
"If I tell you and she finds out..."
"So it's her!" He smiled, "She is not going to do anything to you, you know, even if she finds out that you told me."
