Chapter 4: Date or Nah?

I got back home, with a goofy smile plastered on my face. As soon as I opened the door to my house, I saw my mom and dad cuddling on the couch watching a girly movie, that my dad didn't like, but he wasn't complaining.

I walked past them and as soon as they noticed me, my mom shot up from the couch and said "We need to talk, now." She grabbed my arm and led me into the empty kitchen as my dad tried to catch up with us. He managed to catch up with my mom and me. I sat on one side of the island and my mom and dad on the other, both with completely different expressions on their faces. My mom had a huge smile on her face and her eyes were full of hope and promise, then there was my dad, he had a sad smile on his face and his eyes had a mix of concern and frustration in them.

After a while, my dad broke the silence and said "If he is the reason for the red cheeks, I swear to God, I'm going to kill him!"

"Rick, how dare you! The boy did nothing to her, but make her happy!" said my mom with a stern voice. Does my father have a death wish?

"I knew this was going to happen! That guy is nothing, but trouble."

"Keep talking, Rick, and you and I are going to have trouble."

My dad immediately shut up and gave my mom an apologetic smile before saying "I'm sorry, honey. I was just worried about our baby girl." He gave my mom a tight hug which she returned and he then gave her a kiss on her forehead.

I just kept staring at them, before coming up with the right words and said "You don't need to worry about me, daddy. He's just taking me to Friday's. Nothing, big."

My dad's eyes opened wide with surprise and my mom just had a huge smile on her face. My mom said with excitement lacing her voice "Well, aren't you going to tell us the details."

"I'm going to go, before I kill the guy. Sorry, Rosie but if you want to keep that boy of yours safe its best if I'm not here." My cheeks turn red at the 'that boy of yours' comment. My dad gave me a kiss on the cheek and whispered in my ear "I love you. Please, be careful." As he turned to leave, I stopped him and engulfed him in a tight hug and told him "I love you, too and thank you for being there for me." He returned the hug and kissed the top of my head and mumbled in my hair "Always."

I let him go and he smiled at me and then turned around to give my mom a peck on the lips and whispered to my mom "We'll finish this, later." Honestly, I wish my dad could learn how to whisper, I really didn't need to hear that and the worse part of it all was right after, when my dad slapped my mom's butt. I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me, but what made the situation even more awkward was that my mom was as red as a tomato. She stopped blushing and immediately looked at me as she grabbed my hand and led me upstairs to my room, she opened my door to find my room spotless, and I guess she picked it up while I was gone.

She sat me down on my bed and said "So, what happened between you and him?"

As I explained what happened, my mind kept drifting off to what he said about no one disturbing us. It probably meant nothing, but I had a gut feeling that it was. My mom simply said "He's quite a catch!"

"Whatever, I need to get ready. I'll be back by 11:00."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow I need to go a meeting now."

I just stared at my phone, it was 5:45. I had an hour and fifteen minutes to get ready. I took a quick shower and took out some light colored skinny jeans and a light pink crop top with my white converse. I straightened my hair and did little curls here and there to make it not look, so dull. I just put on some concealer to cover up a pimple I had on my chin, a little bit of mascara, and some natural colored lip gloss. I checked my phone and it was 6:56. I finished just in time. I grabbed my small side purse and put my phone, wallet, and keys. I walked downstairs only to be greeted by my brother and father screaming at each other. They stopped the moment I entered the room.
