Lex's point of view

My mom and stepmom sit at the dinner table talking about work and other things like that, while I push around my meatballs in a daze. I've been having an inner battle with myself ever since I decided not to tell Keeho my feelings.

Mom: Earth to Alexis?
Me: Huh?
Mom: Are you okay? You've been spaced out lately.
Me: Yeah just school stuff.

Lies, everyone who knows me know I never get stressed about school because I simply do not care. Life is a simulation.

But somehow I'm stressed out about confessing to a boy I've known since diapers.

Mom: You know when we were younger your uncle San would be spaced out so bad to the point he'd walk into walls. I don't want you doing the same disturbing thing.

I chuckle.

Me: What's the scariest part of confessing to someone?
Stepmom: Rejection.
Mom: Absolutely.
Me: Yeah.

They exchange looks.

Mom: Are you planning on confessing to someone?
Me: Maybe.
Stepmom: Is it Keeho?

I choke on my lemonade.

Me: H-huh?
Mom: We know you better than you know yourself sometimes. You treat all the boys like your brothers, but when it comes to Keeho you're a bit different.

Can the universe just suck me up?

Me: I mean, yeah it's a small crush I guess.
Stepmom: Small? Mhm, sure.

I can feel my face turning warm.

Mom: Confessing is something that should never be rushed, you'll find the right time.

I hope so.

Hwasang's point of view

I stare at my laptop beyond stressed. I haven't seen the outside world in like a week because I've been shut in doing my homework.

I'm not the only one though, the other three boys are doing the same. School is kicking our ass all at the same time. Chenle is sitting at the table crying into an applesauce cup, while Wonnie is banging his head against the freezer.

Me: Um.
Chenle: If I ran away and joined the circus would you all come?
Wonnie: When I was younger I wanted to be a lion tamer so yes.
Me: I say we all take a break and go get some food. Kee!

"I'm right here."

I scream to the top of my lungs when he walks out of the snack cabinet.

Wonnie: What the hell were you doing in there?
Keeho: Crying.
Me: Which parents house are we crashing?
Wonnie: Crashing?
Me: Yeah, for food.
Keeho: I haven't seen my Godfather in a while.

__

Mr.Xiaojun stares at us as we wave happily outside his door. Chenle moves him aside while we all pile into the house.

Chenle: Where's mom?
Mr.Xiaojun: Um at work, why're you all here? What's wrong?
Keeho: We're hungry and stressed from school.

Keeho plops down onto the leather sofa, putting his sock covered feet on the coffee table.

Mr.Xiaojun: So you came here?
Chenle: I told them you'd cook for us.

He blinks.

Mr.Xiaojun: Me? Do you not know who I am?
Wonnie: An ex mafia leader who owns three restaurants and a gym.
Mr.Xiaojun: You're a smartass just like your mother.

Wonnie grins.

Mr.Xiaojun: Steak, potatoes, corn and rolls?
Keeho: I'm not really in the mood for corn.

Mr.Xiaojun grips the boy's scalp.

Keeho: C-corn is fine!
