Hwasang's point of view
It's date day!
This has been a very challenging week due to midterms, final projects, and business endeavors with my father. Seeing Hana's face will melt away all the stress from this week. She stands there in a pink flowy knee-length dress that's covered in strawberries. Her light jean jacket and beige purse compliments the outfit nicely.
She spots me and begins to smile, the bouquet of flowers in my hand makes her squeal.
Hana: They're so pretty!
Me: Just like you. How've you been?
Hana: I've been good. How are you? Have you been sleeping well?
Not at all but I don't want to worry her.
Me: Sleep has been amazing!
Hana: That sounds like a lie but I won't pry too much. You have your reasons, no?
She's smart.
Me: I do. Don't make that face!
Hana: What face?
Me: That I'm worried face.
Hana: Well I am worried! I don't want you running yourself ragged. Today is your off day you should be home relaxing not wasting..-
I kiss her.
Me: Don't ever say being with you is a waste of time, I love being with you.
Hana: But..-
Me: Nope, now let's go eat!
A new restarting in town opened up and Hana really wanted to try it so I agreed. She has a weakness for 잡채 (japchae), I don't really care for it but seeing her scarf it down with no remorse makes me happy.
I remember on one of our first dates she acted so shy to eat around me. Meanwhile I'm pretty sure I had sauce on my face because the ribs I had that day were delicious.
Hana: I spent the night at Rin's over the weekend and she's so over the moon about the promise ring Wonnie gave her. It's her birthstone which makes it so much more adorable!
Her eyes light up as she talks about it and gets me thinking.
Me: Do you want a promise ring?
She blushes.
Hana: N-no! I didn't bring it up for you to think that.
Me: I know but we've been together for a while now and I want to show you that I'm all in.
It's no secret I'm a stranger to relationships but being with her makes me realize I want to do things right.
After lunch we go to the jewelry store and I ignore her pleas. Once we walk in her eyes twinkle at all the expensive jewelry.
Hana: You bought me a charm bracelet for christmas that I love so that's enough, really Hwasang.
I bop her nose.
Me: Yes but I want this ring to symbolize my promise of being committed to you, loving and valuing you.
Her face turns so red she buries herself in my chest. The lady smiles at us in awe.
Lady: Young love is always so pure and refreshing. I remember my husband and I met when we were around your age. We broke up for about three years but found our way back to each other.
Hana glances up grinning slightly.
Hana: That's beautiful!
Lady: Thank you, when you have something good hold onto it.
I remember my stepfather saying that, and soon after he threw a grape at my mom's head.
We look at each ring case carefully. Hana let's out a small gasp. The ring band was rose gold, no surprise there it's her favorite. the diamond was surrounded by gold crafted petals.
It's very pretty and matches her soft and careful personality.
Me: Ma'am, we'll take this one.
Lady: That's a good choice. Um, are you doing are payment plan?
I pull out my black card raising an eyebrow.
Me: Payment plan?
Lady: Yes. This ring is from our expensive collections and from what I gather your college kids right?
Me: Yeah we're in college.
I hand her my card and her eyes widen.
Lady: Park-Kang?
I smile sheepishly.
Me: My parents are in a polygamous relationship. My biological father's last name is Park while my stepfather's name is Kang. Sometimes I go by both.
She gasps.
Lady: Park? Like Seonghwa CEO Park?
Me: That's the one.
Lady: He's in a marriage with that surgeon and artist!
Me: Those would be the two.
She's still in shock.
Lady: W-would you like a receipt?
Me: Sure.

Hana has been staring at the ring ever since we left. We finally get back to my house and the smell of tator tots fill the air.
"Hwa!!"
Keeho comes running towards me giving me a giant hug. He's in his little space, he pulls away before giving Hana a gentle hug. She coos over him. When she found out about him regressing she thought it was the most endearing thing ever.
Damn I have an amazing girlfriend.
Wonnie and Rin stand around in the kitchen talking to my mom.
Mom: Hana honey how are you?
Hana: I'm doing well! How are you Mrs.Park-Kang?
My mom laughs.
Mom: Honey please just call me Cina, don't be so formal. I'm doing well. I was in the middle of a lovely nap until my two bratz I call husbands came home.
Me: They're here?
"In the living room!"
I walk in and see them on the couch watching TV.
Me: Well isn't this a sight, no work today?
Dad: I told San to handle the last two projects and left.
Stepdad: My back was aching so I left. What did you do today?
Me: Hana and I went on a date.
Dad: Our son has turned into a decent man.
Me: Decent?
They laugh.
Rin, Hana and my mom squeal over the ring I bought. Keeho drenched his tator tots in ketchup earning a look of disproval from Wonnie.
The best way to end a perfect date is spending it with family.
