Despite his newfound mission given to him by Chisa, Nikei still had to keep up his work as a journalist by reporting other things too. He still went out everyday to collect interviews about world issues and whatnot, but he worked on his big article in any free time he got.

This week had been a lot chillier than usual, and Nikei felt it as soon as he opened the door. "Hey, I'm heading out. There's a cold snap out here, just letting you know," he called, and he closed the door behind him as he went out.

Mikado was always up at the break of dawn with Nikei to make breakfast and brew coffee, and he always waited until an hour after the sun rose to wake Setsuka up from her own slumber. He put her breakfast in the microwave to reheat it later, and he went to relax on the couch and read a book until then.

After it had reached about eight o'clock in the morning, Mikado went upstairs and back to the bedroom. Inside, he saw Setsuka slumbering peacefully, her long hair dishevelled and falling around her as she slept on her front. But no matter how pretty Mikado thought she looked like this, she still needed to be woken up.

The wizard sat down beside her and gently rubbed her shoulder, watching his girlfriend begin to stir beneath him. "Good morning, Setsuka. It's time to wake up," he softly cooed.

The billiards player slowly forced her head up to look at Mikado. "Is it morning already...?" she muttered, and Mikado held over a small glass of water that she put at her bedside last night. Setsuka made herself sit up and drank it all down, then leaned against Mikado for support.

"Nikei's already left for work," the blonde informed, "and your breakfast just needs to be reheated. Come on, let's head downstairs. Nikei said that there's a cold snap going on, and the more warmth you have in you, the better."

"A cold snap? But it's early summer. So how?" Setsuka muttered as she got out of bed. "Maybe that's why I'm more tired than usual. When Nik comes back, we should all cuddle together..."

Mikado wasn't opposed to that suggestion, but he didn't reply to her yet as they went down the stairs. He let go of her and teleported ahead so that he could warm up her food. By the time he had finished preparing the food to be served, Setsuka was sitting on the couch and starting to wake up.

"Thanks, Kado," the woman smiled as the plate was placed on her lap, and she began to eat as Mikado sat down beside her and began leaning on her. Mikado tried to keep her breakfast somewhat modest, with the traditional pancakes and bacon, but also added egg salad and breakfast sausages to make sure that she was full.

"Since our little journalist has left, why don't we go out and keep ourselves occupied for the time being?" Mikado suggested, not bothering to move his body away from her while she ate. "Nikei does keep telling us that we shouldn't go to the school right now until he finishes that one article of his, but I really don't want to stay home yet again."

"As much as I want to go somewhere on campus, Nik would get really worried, especially since the investigation for those murders is still ongoing. How about we head to the library instead then?" Setsuka finished up her breakfast with her boyfriend snuggled against her, who she had to dislodge in order to put the empty plate and cutlery in the sink. "Let me just get dressed and we can head out together."

"Of course, of course. I need to get dressed too, so I'm in no rush." Mikado got up from the couch too, and the two of them began to head up the stairs together. It didn't take too long for them to get dressed, with Mikado bundling himself a little too much in preparation for the cold, and the two of them soon left their house with the books to return.

The library wasn't too far away, it was just near the grocery store a couple streets over, but it felt like the walk there took longer for the freezing wizard. "Hm? Kado, you're shivering, but you have so many layers on," Setsuka remarked, looking at the coat overtop the thick sweater he had on.
