Warning: suffocation, medical equipment

When the three of them had free time together, usually on the weekends, they liked to all sit on the couch and watch some television while cuddling up against each other. It was a good routine for them, they had no desire to change it at all.

Today, after a brief debate on what show they should watch, they decided to watch Kitchen Nightmares. Mikado mistook the show for Hell's Kitchen, and neither of his lovers wanted to correct him on that yet. He'd figure that out for himself eventually.

"What the hell is wrong with people sometimes," Setsuka grumbled, cuddled up into the journalist's side as they watched a clip of an owner who was revealed to steal tips from their sole waitress.

"I'm glad that an episode was done on these nutjobs, otherwise I'd be tempted to go do an investigation myself," Nikei joked as he kept watching. "Maybe I should do one anyway, just to see where they are now, haha."

"If this was a 'baking company,' why don't they just stick to what they're good at?" Mikado remarked, his head resting on Setsuka's shoulder as his legs draped off the couch. "Their other food looks very undercooked anyway, and then these pricks don't even take feedback on food at all..."

"Don't stress out over this, Kado. This incident has long passed, and we can find out if they're still in business after we watch the episode," Setsuka soothed with a smile. "And besides, Kitchen Nightmares is supposed to help restaurants. Maybe this one will get better too."

As they reached the middle of the episode, Mikado began to cough a little bit. First only light coughs, then heavier ones. "You good over there? Choked on water or something?" Nikei asked.

"No, I didn't drink anything. Or eat either-" Mikado was cut off by a fit of coughing as he sat up, trying to catch his breath. "O-Oh dear..."

"Kado?" Setsuka looked at him worriedly, sitting up as well. The wizard was struggling for breath even now. "What's going on? Can you breathe?"

Nikei looked at Mikado's wrists and noticed red marks beginning to form. The marks were appearing on his neck too, and the journalist began to realize that they were burn marks. "...We need to call an ambulance, NOW."

Setsuka immediately grabbed her phone and dialled 119, and Nikei rushed to Mikado to keep his breathing stable. "You'll be fine, just try to breathe. Alright? We're getting help," Nikei tried to soothe.

"No, I don't know why he's choking. Maybe his throat closed or something? We still need help," Setsuka rapidly explained, and gave the paramedics their address. A few seconds later, she hung up. "The ambulance is on its way!"

"Great! Help me carry him to the driveway, it'll make getting him there easier!" Nikei shouted, and Setsuka ran to pick up the suffocating wizard as Nikei ran ahead and made sure that there were no obstacles or closed doors in her way.

With nothing blocking her, she managed to get Mikado to the driveway quickly. She put him down, all the while saying, "Shh, it's alright, everything will be fine," to soothe him. Nikei stood to the side, on the lookout for the paramedics.

A minute later, the ambulance finally arrived and the paramedics put the wizard on a stretcher, carrying him into the vehicle. Setsuka and Nikei boarded as well, and nobody bothered to remove them since they were too busy with Mikado. On the trip to the hospital, they watched as an oxygen mask with a tube to go down his trachea was affixed to the blonde to force him to breathe.

Mikado was rushed into the emergency room as Nikei and Setsuka were redirected to a side room nearby. They sat down together in silence, defeated by their inability to do anything. "...Nik, what the hell just happened?" Setsuka quietly questioned. "Kado started choking, then those marks began appearing-"
