[TW! Depictions of violence, gore, and blood ahead!!]

He plunged the knife into a civilian's stomach. The person's body moved against the knife, driving it in further. Luca's grip on the knife loosened as he stared the person directly in the eyes, he was still alive. Luca felt guilty for not feeling bad for what he was doing to this person. The feeling of guilt after murdering another human being wore off over the years of doing this, however, Luca felt shame that he didn't feel guilty over the method he was using to kill the individual.

Normally Luca would just slit their throats, letting them die quickly. But he had a certain hunger for blood that he needed to feed this time. He had pent-up frustration that he needed to get off his chest, and this was the perfect opportunity to vent out his frustrations psychically. Luca watched as tears dripped from the person's eyes, he was shaking from the pain as he bit down on the cloth that prevented him from making any comprehendible sounds. The two were in an alleyway, alone at night together.

Luca firmly held onto the knife again, focusing his attention off the person's shattered eyes. He yanked the knife out of the person's chest, causing the person to yelp in pain, his body retracting. Luca looked at the large gash he made. It was stained in red, such a pretty color it was.

It glimmered in the moonlight, reminding Luca of Charli's beautiful orange eyes. He gripped onto the knife and stabbed the person in the gut again, watching the blood splatter around, making the scenery look like a distorted painting of pain.

Truth be told, Luca's love for Charli wasn't all that it seemed to be. He played it off as him not caring that she loved another guy, as long as she was happy, because that was the correct thing to do, right? Luca pulled the knife out of the person again.

In truth, he was jealous. Jealous of what Light had, and what he's thrown away for so long. Why, why has he just now started taking interest in her? How come it's fair for Charli to get with the guy who hurt her the most? Luca's hold on the knife tightened as he sent it hurling down into the person's chest, slightly below the ribcage. He stabbed him harder than before, so hard that he cut his own hand against the blade from it slipping back. Normally he wasn't this rough, normally he was more careful when it came to murder, but he couldn't help it. He wanted to make Charli happy the way Light did. He wanted to be Light, he wanted to be Light so badly. The person cried out, but it was muffled to seemingly nothingness. He couldn't change anything about it and this was the only way he figured he could get all his frustrations out.

Luca retracted the knife and then began to hammer it down, repeatedly stabbing the victim over and over. The brick walls, the dumpsters, Luca himself, all painted in crimson. Graffiti painted over in blood, it was it's own artpiece that needed a large canvas. He hated it, he hated the fact he wanted to be selfish over Charli. He wasn't overbearing, not in the slightest, he just wanted to be the one to make Charli the happiest. He wanted to rest in her arms and watch the sunset. He wanted to go out to eat with her, enjoying the romance as they laugh and joke. He wanted to go on picnics with her. He wanted to be with her, but he couldn't. I mean, why would Charli ever like him? She only sees him as a friend, a best friend, but that's it. Luca strived for more, he was close, and if it weren't for Light, he'd be perfectly fine with where he was in their relationship.

He knew he couldn't have Charli, but as long as it wasn't Light, Luca didn't care who Charli loved. But the reality is a cold killer, isn't it?

Charli liked Light, Light liked Charli. He made her happy, which made Luca happy to see, but at the same time, why? Why did it have to be Light? Whenever he sees them happy, he thinks back to the times when Charli came to Luca crying about Light, about how he broke her heart for the hundredth time. It used to always piss Luca off, it pissed him off that a girl as amazing as Charli was getting hurt by this jerk. But now, it just feels like salt added onto a wound. Luca expected Charli to get over Light, no, he wished Charli would. He wouldn't care as much if it were someone else, like Alex or something, but no, it just had to be Light! Luca hated it.

He loved Charli so dearly and loathed Light so detestably. He felt like he was going in circles, no, he felt like he wasn't moving at all. He wasn't getting farther, but he wasn't getting closer. He was just behind Charli, close, but not too close. He had to watch as her and Light got closer, and he couldn't move. He was stuck. All he could do was watch, and it pained him to do so.

He hadn't even realized he had been crying as he stabbed the person's now dead body repeatedly until he ran out of breath and tasted the salt.

Everything was painted red, his once white clothes now drenched in maroon. His surroundings, red. His right hand had a deep cut on the side from how much his hand slipped and he cut himself on the knife he used to massacre the person's body. The knife was caked in both the person and Luca's blood, Luca knew that he'd have to dispose of this beloved knife. Everything was red, and the only thing washing the blood off Luca's face was his own tears.

the person's body was absolutely destroyed, his clothes now dyed a deep scarlet, the blood shimmered in the moonlight as Luca got a good look at the mess he made.

"Damn, you made quite the mess this time, haven't you?" A familiar voice called out, Luca looked up in the direction of the voice. There, standing by a corner in the alleyway, stood Charli.

See, both he and Charli worked as assassins together. The two have been murder buddies for a while, after a while in the industry, the two have become good at covering their tracks, getting their murders over fast, and then getting out of there.

Charli made her way over to the corpse. "I know the boss said to murder them, but this is... wow. Impressive, yet impractical."

Luca quickly cleared the tears off his face as he turned to face Charli, "Yeah, sorry. Normally I would've done the ol' slit-throat and run but I uh, had some issues that I've been bottling up and wanted to vent out," he explained, scratching the back of his head.

"What are you bottling up?" Charli questioned, her concern growing, "I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything!"

Luca looked at the body, then back to Charli. He sighed, shaking his head, "Sorry, I can't..." he mumbled nervously, twiddling with his bloodsoaked hair, hoping she wouldn't push further.

"Ah, that's alright. I'll be here whenever you need to talk, m'kay?" Charli replied, seemingly not wanting to pry too much. She knew her boundaries and Luca knew his.

Luca gave Charli a smile. Even in the dark, she was still beautiful.

"Boss wants us to assassinate Aaron Blackborne next," Charli tells him, "But before we do, I just wanna double-check, are you sure you're alright?" she questions once more.

Luca looked Charli in her magnificently colored eyes, looking a bit stunned before smiling again, "I'm fine, don't worry about it, okay?" Luca responds. He doesn't want Charli to worry, and didn't even have the guts to ever confess that he liked her.

Luca was brave enough to commit multiple murders, not even flinching at the sight of gore. He didn't have many fears, he was able to do things that a normal person couldn't. And yet, he didn't have the guts to confess to Charli that he was in love with her.

"Now," Luca grabbed Charli's hand, "Blackborne is a cool fricking last name, but we've got a job to do. Ready to go?"

"Yeah," Charli nodded, giving him a determined smirk. Adorable.

Luca began to run, catching Charli off guard and causing her to yelp in response as she began to run with him, "C'mon!" Luca laughed. He loved spending time with her, even under such dark circumstances.

He hated the fact she loved Light, but if he could stay with her through these moments, if he could have her for just a little longer, even if she only saw it as platonic, that'd be alright.

He wanted Charli to be happy with someone, anyone, other than Light. So if he could prolong and live through these moments when Charli wasn't his, that would be enough.

Just as long as Charli's single, Luca can hope. Hoping is the best thing to do, as foolish as it sounded. Levi always hated the idea of hope, finding it worthless, but Luca thought differently.

Maybe, if he held onto this little strand of hope, maybe then would Charli find someone else.

Maybe then, Charli would understand how much he loved her.

...

Not my best writing, but eh. I was in the mood to write gore and unrequited love, so I mashed 'em together for a singular oneshot. I'll write more wholesome Charluca stuff in the future, just let me eat up my angst.
