It was a slightly cloudy day, a little chilly, and overall alright time. Last night, one of my best friends, Levi, called late last night (early in the morning?) at around 1 AM. He didn't sound too great, his usually soothing and deep voice sounded strained and pained. I asked what was wrong, because he'd go on coughing fits and hiss in pain, but shook it off like it was nothing. Eventually, he admitted he was sick.

I was worried about him! He sounded pretty sick, I offered to come over and take care of him, but he declined, saying Luca was already taking care of him. Even though he said he didn't want me over, I'm still going! I make a right, driving in my car as I look over to the flowers I bought. I can't just sit still and live normally as if he wasn't sick!

Besides, I had the feeling that I had to go over.

As I pull into the neighborhood he and his brother live in, I see cop cars, and then more cop cars. Once I got to his house, it was covered in police cars. What the hell?

I park on the side of the road, getting out and running over to Luca who was crying in the front yard.

"Luca!" I shout, he looks up. I've seen Luca cry before, quite a lot too, but I've never seen him this shaken up about something.

"Light..?" He mumbles, sniffling as I catch up to him.

I grab his shoulder, holding it firmly as I look him dead in the face. "What happened?? Why are there so many police cars??? Where's Levi????" I question frantically, feeling dread creeping up my spine.

Luca bursts into tears again, diving in for me for a hug. I hold him close, rubbing his back soothingly. Something happened to Levi, I'm sure of it. I can't ask Luca until he's calmed down, so now that's my main objective.

He drenches my shirt in his tears, but eventually, he starts to calm down. So, I ask once more, "Luca... what happened?"

He backs away from me, whipping his face with his sleeves. He takes a deep breath, "Levi... he..." Luca's always had trouble putting things into words, so I let him take his time as he sniffles, "... Levi was stabbed and bled out in an alley downtown..."

What?

The news struck me, not even getting hit by a speeding truck would hit as hard as this news.

How? Why? He was... He was fine yesterday when I called him..! Or.. was he?

I stand there, frozen from shock, staring down at the floor as if it had just smacked me. "B... but.." I murmur, Luca gives me a confused look, reaching out a hand to place on my shoulder as a form of comfort.

"He called me last night..." I admit I can't see Luca's face, but telling by the change of grip on my shoulder, it was just as shocking.

"At what time!?" He interrogates, desperation in his voice, I look at him, glancing to the police who were taking notes and then back at Luca himself.

"About 1 AM?"

"Did anything seem off about him?!"

"Yeah, his voice was strained and he was quieter than usual. He said that he was.... Sick..." My voice trailed off as I stood there in realization. He... he called me after getting stabbed, didn't he?

"God damn it," I mumble, Luca backs off of me, "GOD DAMN IT!" I scream as the floodgates in my eyes open up, letting a sea of tears flush down my face, I resist screaming in despair. "WHY DID THAT IDIOT CALL ME INSTEAD OF GETTING HELP?!"

Why..?

Normally, I'm very calm. Normally, I can take things well. Normally, I don't lash out.

But today was different.
