It was another horrible day for (Y/N). It seemed as if she couldn't catch a break. She ran through throngs of people, her wet shoes squeaking against the pavement. It was pouring, the clouds rumbling dangerously. Magath was going to kill her. This was the third day in a row where she was late, and this time she would appear soaking wet. The budget cuts and all the employees that had gotten fired over the past week terrified her. If she wanted to stay hired, she needed to remain on his good side.

"Sorry!" (Y/N) yelped as she bumped shoulders with a stranger. The contents of the coffee cup she gripped sloshed over the rim, dripping onto the sidewalk. Great, now the bribe she had picked up for Magath was ruined too.

At least her office was coming closer in sight. In the far distance, she could make out the familiar building with the huge awning and a splattering of windows. A luminescent sign above it read Marley Tech, telling all of the passersby that this was the infamous engineering company that had produced many mind-blowing inventions. The fierce weapon that had been popular with the military? A product of Marley. The toaster oven with the little window that let you see how your pizza was cooking? A brainchild of some engineer at Marley. The tech-savvy invention that helped soldiers get from place to place quicker? You got it, a product of Marley! And the little microphone you could plug into your phone to have a mini karaoke night wherever you went? Well...that was a product of (Y/N).

Marley was a jack of all trades, yet it was still difficult for (Y/N) to keep up with the demands Magath doled out. All the engineers that worked for the company were expected to contribute about two to three amazing ideas a month. (Y/N) had been hired because her starting pitch had been mind-blowing, but it seemed as if all of her brilliant ideas had dried up.

"(Y/N) (L/N)," she flashed her ID badge at the security officer that waved her inside. Her shoes squelched against the squeaky linoleum floor, and she winced. There was definitely a trail of water behind her, but she was too scared to check.

"(Y/N)!" The sweet voice of her colleague, Pieck, echoed through the empty hallway and (Y/N) paused. "You're so late again! Do you know what Magath was saying—"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," (Y/N) said quickly, eyeing the door to Magath's office. She had to give him the coffee before it would get even colder. "The rain was cozy, and I didn't get out of bed, I stayed awake all of last night trying to come up with an idea...one thing led to another...and boom, I'm late."

Pieck raised an eyebrow, eyeing the sopping mess that (Y/N) was. "I can't keep making excuses for you, dear. Magath already seemed to be in a bad mood."

(Y/N) groaned. "Just my luck. I'm going to go try bribing him with this half-cold coffee. Hopefully, he won't be too upset...fingers crossed?"

"Good luck with that," Pieck said skeptically as she stepped to the side to let (Y/N) through.

(Y/N) continued to squeak her way in the direction of Magath's office. She hesitated in front of the huge wooden door with the plaque that read Theo Magath, President. Hopefully, he wouldn't be too mad. Hopefully, he really wanted a cup of coffee. Taking a deep breath, she lightly knocked on the door, straining her ears to hear an offering to enter.

"Come in," the gruff voice of her boss commanded, and (Y/N) gently opened the door, peeking her head through.

"Hi, boss!" She chirped, feigning innocence. "I got you some coffee."

Magath furrowed his brows, watching as (Y/N) walked into the room. She placed the cup down, wincing when she noticed half the liquid had spilled out. And the contents weren't so hot anymore. Maybe Magath liked his coffee cold.

"Two creams and a little bit of sugar, just how you like," (Y/N) said weakly, feeling pathetic as she stood completely soaked, bribing her boss with cheap drinks.
