Even though (Y/N) had set an alarm to wake her up bright and early in the morning, she didn't end up needing it. For most of the night, she had been awake, staring at the wall across the room and listening to Hange's even breathing. They had obviously fallen asleep twenty minutes in because their breaths came out slowly and they let out an occasional soft snore. (Y/N) was too nervous to even move for fear that shifting on the bed would cause Hange to wake up. Light began to stream through the curtains and (Y/N) tentatively sat up, going as slow as she could. She closed her alarm before it could blare through the silent room.

(Y/N) turned slowly towards Hange, noticing that during the night they had turned towards her and had gotten even closer than she had expected. Their fingertips were mere centimeters away from brushing her back. Hange's chest rose and fell gently, their breaths causing their bangs to flutter. They seemed so peaceful, so serene, that (Y/N) struggled to prevent herself from reaching out to softly stroke their cheek. Their shirt had ridden up a bit, exposing a strip of their toned abdomen, and (Y/N) instantly felt herself heat up. It was a good thing that she had cranked up the AC before falling asleep last night.

(Y/N) tore her gaze away from Hange's exposed flesh. Staring at her superior, and the person who probably hated her guts, while they were sleeping was creepy. She needed to get ready for the convention. There was the outfit she had to iron and then wear, the flashcards she had to go over...oh, and breakfast. She had to feed her stomach, no matter how queasy she felt due to the nerves.

Hange finally stirred, their limbs stretching out like a starfish. They yawned, their eyes fluttered open, squinting against the light. (Y/N) froze, watching as they woke. At first, they seemed confused as to where they were but then their gaze fell on (Y/N). They blinked a couple of times before realization dawned on their face.

"Good morning," (Y/N) said, standing quickly from the bed. "It's nine am. The convention center opens in an hour and breakfast finishes in half an hour. Are we going to observe any other presentations?"

"You can do whatever you like before 3," Hange's voice came out a little raspy as they sat up, rubbing at their eyes. Seeing them without their glasses and in this sleepy state caused (Y/N)'s breathing to quicken. It almost felt as if the two were a couple, waking up together on any regular morning.

"Oh. What are you going to be doing?"

"Moblit invited me to see his presentation, so I'll be supporting him before ours," Hange frowned and looked around the bed, their hands patting the mattress. They seemed to be looking for something.

"Need something?" (Y/N) asked, pausing before she entered the bathroom.

"My glasses. I can't find them."

"You put them on the dresser," (Y/N) gingerly grabbed Hange's glasses and handed it over to them.

"Thanks," they mumbled, sliding it on their nose.

"I'm going to get ready and go down for breakfast. Will you be coming too?"

"It ends in half an hour? I won't be able to get ready in time," Hange reached for their phone. "I have a couple of phone calls I need to make."

"Is there something you like? I can grab it for you," (Y/N) offered. "You can't go through the presentation on an empty stomach, you have to eat something you know?"

Hange looked up at her, their hazel eyes glittering under the sun rays. "If they have fruit, that'll work. Thanks."

"No problem," (Y/N) said lightly before heading over to shower. She learned that morning that Hange was tamer right after they woke up. They hadn't said anything snide to her yet and had even expressed their gratitude twice. Maybe that was a sign that the rest of the day would go by just fine.
