A/N: Hi everyone! I'm back with the angst alternative ending. There will be around 4-5 short chapters and it will start out as fluff before becoming angst. I'll just put the angst warning once here--please do not read if you don't like angst. If you want y/n and Hange to be happy, then I suggest you don't continue reading. I hope I've warned you enough...

Time was a weird concept. Sometimes, it crawled by agonizingly slow and left people yearning for the future. How many times had someone wished for graduation day so that they'd be done with school? How many times did people wish for summer so that they'd be done with work? How many times did people wish for retirement so that they'd be able to truly relax? Humans love to wish for the future. But sometimes, the future is not a magical place. Sometimes, it's truly better to live in the present.

Two years had done a lot to (Y/N)'s life. For starters, she was no longer an employee at Marley Tech. She was an employee at Paradis & Marley Corporations—the successfully combined company. In the middle of Shiganshina city, right near all of the most popular tourist attractions, there was a huge skyscraper. One that towered over everything else near it. The huge, illuminated sign at the peak signified that this building was a result of the fusion of two major engineering companies. Paradis & Marley. A company that people yearned to work at. The amazing atmosphere, the brilliant engineers, the mind-blowing inventions...everything about that company was perfect.

(Y/N) had grown quite a name for herself over the small span of time. The forest restoration drone might have been her greatest invention, but it hadn't been her last. A couple of months after the launch party, she had come up with the idea of a plastic degeneration enzyme. A couple of months after that, she had successfully patented a device that would assist in cleaning up the oceans. Her career grew rapidly, and before she knew it, she was on the board of directors. Her level matched some of the top engineers, and she had been given the power and prestige she had yearned over years ago. But with prestige came responsibility, and now she was in charge of training the new interns. She didn't mind it all too much, since her life was going great. She had purpose, she had passion. She loved living—a feat that she hadn't thought would be possible for herself.

"Good morning," (Y/N) chirped as she entered the room where the new batch of interns were waiting. Four young, bright faces eagerly stared back at her, excited to be learning from the great (Y/N) (L/N).

After a chorus of good mornings and oh, lead engineer (Y/N) I loved your inventions and it's a pleasure to meet you, (Y/N) got right to explaining the rules and regulations at Paradis & Marley. She remembered being an intern and wanted to make the experience amazing for the new hires. She began to talk about the rules and regulations, excited to share her knowledge.

"And that is why—"

Before (Y/N) could finish her schpeal about the importance of saving your work, the door to the room burst open and Sasha walked in.

"Hellooo new hires!" Sasha greeted enthusiastically. She was also on the welcoming committee (and a permanent member on (Y/N)'s team). "The lecture is finished. Let's go on a tour!"

"Sasha, I wasn't done," (Y/N) smiled at the brunette, amused. "I still have to go over the huge no-nos that will get them fired immediately."

"Do that later. Besides, Hange is calling you," a teasing lilt had entered Sasha's voice. After the launch party, it had become obvious that (Y/N) and Hange were a couple. The news had spread like fire, and soon everyone knew about Hange dating the former spy. There was a little bit of resistance, but other than that, most people were accepting.

"Lead engineer Hange?" One of the interns spoke up, her eyes wide. "I've heard lots about them! I can't wait to meet them too!"

(Y/N) looked over at the intern and was suddenly struck with a wave of déjà vu. The intern seemed so familiar...as if (Y/N) had met her before. Was it the intern's curly hair? The darkened eyes? What was it that struck (Y/N) as familiar?
