What (Y/N) had thought would be an interesting car ride turned boring really fast. The first hour, she and Hange were both completely immersed in their own electronics. (Y/N) was going over points she would have to say during a live presentation. The thought of having to present in front of hundreds of people was still eating at her and she really wanted to ask Hange for advice. She might have done nothing but argue with them over the past few months, but she still looked to them as a mentor. They were brilliant and a great leader, and given the circumstances, (Y/N) was extremely lucky to be working for them. She sometimes wondered how life would have been like if she had worked for Paradis since the beginning. Maybe she would have had even more friends in the company, maybe she would have been encouraged to make more inventions, maybe she would have gotten promoted so many times her salary would be sufficient, maybe...(Y/N) quickly looked towards Hange. Maybe she would have a better relationship with them.

This was the first time that (Y/N) had been put in a small, inescapable area with Hange for a long period of time. She could practically feel their body, even though it was a foot or two away. Sometimes the cab seemed too small, and she would be all too aware of Hange's presence. It annoyed her that she cared that much that she couldn't even focus on her work. She shouldn't care about Hange. The insults they had uttered hurt her greatly to this day. She felt discouraged because of them. Why should she try to be friendly or reconcile with a person who had been the rudest to her? But...but didn't she cause them pain first? Her thoughts were confusing and left her with a headache.

A loud rumble of thunder followed by a bright flash of lightning caused (Y/N) to startle and stare out of the window. She wasn't afraid of the rain per se, but the very dark and gloomy weather started to give her a bit of anxiety about driving in the weather. It was raining so hard, the driver could barely see out the windshield.

"Don't you think we should take a break or something? It's pouring out there," (Y/N) finally spoke after an hour of silence.

"This is fine, I've driven in even worse weather," Hange didn't even look up from their screen.

"But the weather app says that there's a chance for tornados in this area. I think we should stop driving just for an hour or so."

"We'll be late, and we can't afford that. Don't tell me you're afraid of some thunder and lightning?" Hange's raised an eyebrow, their tone slightly mocking.

"No! I'm not afraid of thunder, it's just the weather is unsafe to drive in," (Y/N) frowned. And here she thought that Hange would be civil for at least the drive there.

Hange peered out the window, the lens of their glasses reflecting the scene outside. (Y/N) couldn't help but admire their prominent jawline. Her eyes traveled down the slope of their neck, lingering on their collarbone. How would—No. No. Just no. (Y/N) stopped the thoughts before they could progress into something else. What on earth was she thinking? Why on earth was she thinking stuff like that? She tore her gaze away to focus on the weather again. She couldn't check Hange out. Heck, she didn't even find them attractive at all. She hated them in the beginning and now she was just irritated at them.

Why did it feel like she told herself that excuse dozens of times before? Being attracted to Hange was not an option. If she would be attracted to anybody it should be to people with who she would actually have a chance. Like Pieck. Pieck was nice, she spent lots of time with (Y/N). Or even Sasha. Sasha would be a better person to fawn over rather than Hange. Heck, even Mikasa or Levi would have worked. She could not be admiring Hange. Absolutely not. Maybe it was the weird, enclosed environment she was in, but (Y/N) was beginning to think conflicting thoughts.

"Can we stop soon," Hange spoke up, trying to get the driver's attention. "I need to grab another energy drink, mine finished."

"But you just said we'll be late," (Y/N) protested. "How can we stop for your energy drink?"
