As a reader, these are the first things I judge before I even start reading a story:

1. TITLE
The title should not be too long and too detailed to avoid spoilers. It should be catchy, related to the story, and it could be a single word, phrase, quote, names, or foreshadowing titles.

2. BOOK COVER
The book cover should be unique and related to the title, genre, or story. Creativity is the key in designing a book cover, and there are tutorials available online or professionals you can hire for this.

3. DESCRIPTION/SYNOPSIS/PROLOGUE
Ensure proper grammar in the description. The synopsis should be a teaser, not the whole summary, and it should be intriguing to hook the readers' attention with interesting details.

4. TAGS
Tags are helpful for readers to find your story and can improve your story's ranking. Choose tags that are relevant to your story and do not underestimate its importance.

5. CHAPTER TITLE
The most common way of writing the chapter titles is: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3... Or, you can add, like, words or phrases as chapter titles to tease what the chapter is about, like: Chapter 1: The Kiss, Chapter 2: Breaking His Heart, Chapter 3: Under the Bridge... Don't be too much of a spoiler, though!

6. VISUALS
Other than the book cover, you can also add visuals to your story. Like, characters, maps, trailers, or anything.

7. DEDICATION
If you, literally, want to get your readers attention, then dedicate a chapter for them. This action shows how grateful you are for having them as your readers.

8. BEGINNING OF THE STORY
It's important to make an impact to get a good first impression of your story---and that will be based on how you will write the beginning of the story. Remember, you are the author. You have the power to control the story. When they tell you to not begin your story with this or that, it's up to you if you want to listen or not. Because at the end of the day, it will still be based on how you will write it to have an impact, and connect with the readers. For me, cliché or common things are unavoidable. You just have to find your style and voice in writing.

9. GOLD COINS TECHNIQUE
To prevent your readers from stopping when reading your story, incorporate this technique by rewarding them with a humorous remark, detailed illustration, unexpected revelation, or exciting twist in the story.
