Bethany's POV
It was a early morning. I was taking a walk on the beach. The waves gently rolling onto the sand, the sun slowly creeping over the city, it was beautiful. Addie, Cierra, Isaac and Jordan were still asleep, all cuddled up in their beds. Then, a glass bottle with a green ribbon on it washed up to my feet. "Woah! A message in a bottle." I said and picked it up. On the tag, it read: For Addie, Bethany, and Cierra Frye. "Eh? For Us?" I looked around to keep clear of any humans. There were none. I popped open the lid and grabbed the damp paper inside.
Dear Bethany, Cierra, and Addie.
I understand you 3 are siblings and have a second life on land. But you must return to the sea as soon as possible. Trouble is occurring near the Atlantic Ocean. The lion fish population has increased, causing fish to begin to go extinct. Another problem is the pollution and the kingdoms. You must return. We regret this unfortunate event, but we need you to come back. We hope it isn't too inconvenient.
- Northern Atlantic KingdomI was shocked. I knew eventually we'd have to return, but not this soon. I felt tears running down my cheeks and shoved the note in my pocket. I turned around and ran back to the house as fast as I could. I ran in the house, up the stairs, down the hall and into my room. I slammed the door shut and flopped on my bed, causing the others to wake up. "Hu? Why'd the door slam?" Addie shot up from her bed. "I dunno- why is Beth crying?" Cierra looked worried. "Beth! What's wrong? What happened?" They asked me. "Take a look for yourselves, girls. The day has come." I said, handing them the note. They took it and read it. "Hu?! We have to return?! But I wanna stay here!" Addie said. "Everything ok?" Isaac knocked on the door. "Come in." Cierra said. Isaac opened the door and saw they were reading a note and I was crying. "Uh... Do I wanna know?" Isaac looked confused. "Isaac... We... we have to return to the ocean." Addie said. "Return to the ocean?! Why?" "Take a look for yourself." Cierra handed him the note. I wiped away my tears and sat up in my bed. Then, Jordan walked in. "I heard a door slam and voices. Everyone alright?" He said. "Jordan look!" Isaac motioned him to the note. "What's that?" Jordan walked over. The two boys read the note and looked at us. "You all are leaving?" Isaac frowned. "How will we make videos? The Internet is messed up!" "Well... You'll just have to do it without us..." Cierra frowned. "But we can't! We need Sally, Mama Gertrude, Maddie. Not only that, we need our sisters!" Jordan said. "We don't have a choice, though... This is our fate as mermaids. Tell mom and dad we said bye." I said.
Jordan's POV
"Wait! Why can't another mermaid do it? How many of them are there?" I asked. "We have to go, they need all the help we can get, and there's not that many. Only a few survived." Bethany said. "Isn't there any way to stop this without moving?" Isaac jumped in. "I'm afraid not." Cierra said. "B-but... This can't be happening!" "Well, I'm sorry Jordan! But it is!" Bethany snapped. She paused and sighed. "Sorry, it's just... you know... We already explained how we're gonna have to leave no matter what, yet you guys don't wanna let go." She said. "Is there a way we can come with you?" Isaac said. "What? No! You two are humans, not mermen." "You can't survive or breathe underwater." Addie said. "I guess it's time to say goodbye..." Isaac frowned along with me. "Not yet. We don't leave until sunset." Cierra attempted to smile, but it was still depressing. "Well, if we may never see each other again, then making videos is the least of our problems." "Least? Don't you mean most?" Cierra asked. "I care more about my little sisters than our YouTube channel." I said. "Aw, that's so sweet." Bethany gushed. "Alright, alright, cmon! This is our last day! Are we gonna spend it all in our bedroom? No. Let's go!" Addie sprinted downstairs. After eating and getting dressed, we decided to go swimming, shopping, gaming, and watch movies. The girls just jumped into the water and grew tails, and me and Isaac were next.
Isaac's POV
Everyone was jumping into the ocean n stuff and I was next. I ran and jumped in. But I noticed something weird. I couldn't feel my legs. I looked down and... "I HAVE A FISH TAIL!" I accidentally screamed. I ducked underwater and I could see and breathe perfectly. What the heck is going on? My tail was dark red, and I was extremely confused. I looked at Jordan. He still had legs, so what was the deal with me?! I swam up to Cierra. She probably knows, right? She was the oldest mermaid here, so surely she knew. "Hm? What's up Isaac?" She said. "I have a small problem." I replied. "Oh. What is it?" I lifted up my red fish tail and she gasped. "W-why do you have a tail?!" "What's wrong? I heard a gasp- WOAH what happened?" Jordan walked over. Pretty soon all of my siblings were gathered around me. I just wanted to know how. After around 5 minutes of Beth, Cierra and Addie talking and discussing my tail, they found out why I had it. "The reason you have the tail is because of the cave from last night." They said. "You see, we went in the same cave 10 years ago, and the same thing happened to us." "Wait a second... I know how to make it so you guys don't have to move away!" Isaac said. "How?!"
