Chapter 8: A small change in setting

Jordan's POV

Me and Bethany were swimming to save our siblings, but came to a halt when her shell necklace was glowing a dark green. "W-what's going on?" She gasped. "What? Why's it glowing?" "They must be in trouble!" She began swimming faster and faster, leaving me behind in the bubbles. "HEY! Wait up! You don't even know where they are! Where are we anyways?" I shouted. "The Southren Ocean, I think." She panted, out of breath. "The Southren? What are we doing here? They're probably in the Atlantic! Ya know, where we live." "I don't know anymore! I really don't know!" She swam to a rock and sat on it. I felt really terrible, seeing her cuff her hands over her eyes, because our sisters and brother was being held captive by some king that we haven't heard of since 2 days ago or something. I sat next to her and patted her on the back. "We tried, Beth. We tried." I attempted to cheer her up. She looked at me then at her tail. "Why did we have to swim into that stupid cave anyways? I don't want this to be my destiny! None of our destinies!" She swished her fish tail in the open water. I just sat there and nodded. I had nothing to say. I couldn't say anything. Not after all we've been through today. but she did have a point. Why was this targeted at us?

Isaac's POV

Addie and Cierra began yelling and shouting at the sight of the ceiling caving in. I struggled to get out of these rusty chains wrapped around my tail, arms, and neck. It was no use. Wait, rusty? How long have we been locked up down here? Our shells stopped glowing and the ceiling drew closer. I couldn't take it anymore. I snapped. I used all the strength I had to break open the chain on my right hand, and slipped off the one on my left. I pulled away from the wall and the chain on my tail broke, too. Addie and Cierra stared at me, mouths wide open and eyes full of fear. I tried to break their chains, too. But I had used up all my strength. They noticed what I was trying to do and broke their chains, aswell. It wasn't easy, but we managed to get out with a couple bruises and cuts, and hopefully nothing broken. We swam far away from there and ended up on the shore. Where are we? I've never seen any place like it. We were in California, USA. It was around 10:00, and nobody was on the beach. We dried off and decided to wander the city. But as soon as millions of eyes turned our way, I felt a sharp pang in my chest. Oh crap! I forgot we were famous YouTubers! All 3 of us froze and backed away slowly, but the fans didn't hesitate. A little crowd full of our fans came thrusting down the street. This normally wound be fine outrunning them, but I had a raging cramp thanks to the merman thing. Cierra told me to just keep it up, or I'm gonna have to deal with everyone behind me. A few people shouted, Sign my shirt, Billy! Which kind of irked me. A bucha people were saying, Yo! Who's that blonde girl? She his girl friend? Right. My older sister is my girl friend. GROSS! Then again, she isn't in our videos, so how would they know? Maybe we should start putting her in our videos, but Addie said she doesn't like to show her face on YouTube. Weird, right? Eventually, we outran the crowd and found ourselves in the street of California. "So now what?" Cierra said. "I have no idea" We stared in awe. The city was lit up with thousands of window lights. The moon was settled above it all. "I wish Jordan and Beth were here to see this." Addie said. "Me too." I agreed. "Yeah. If only." "If only what?" "If only all 5 of us could be together to see this. After our shells stopped glowing, who knows what's going on." Cierra frowned. I frowned along with her and nodded my head. "Never mind that, where are we going to sleep? We're out of state, obviously." "Ow, good point." "Welp. Guess we should find a good spot on the beach."
