Chapter 9: A new friend!

Kyara's POV (plot twist!)

It all happened when I was taking a late swim. I heard ALOT of commotion and swam up to the surface. Is that Cierra, Isaac, and Addie? What are they doing here?! I swam closer to the shore and the 3 of them seemed to be speaking to eachother. I knew one secret that no other knew. Addie, Beth, and Cierra were mermaids like me! Speaking of which, where is Beth and Jordan? I haven't seen em in a while. I thought I saw them, but it was just a green mermaid and a blue merman. Though they looked familiar... Must be my imagination. I got on the shore and turned back to human to approach them. "Omg! I haven't seen you guys in forever!" I said, running up to them. "Hu? Is that... OMG KYARA? I haven't seen you in AGES!" They said. "What are you all doing down here?" I asked. "Long, long story." Cierra rolled her eyes. "Apparently I'm a merman now." Isaac said. Wait wait wait, what? Isaac is a merman? But how did he? How did they... What?! "We can explain." Cierra said. "Yes please." "Ok, so Isaac found that book Beth got when we first transformed, and he read it so he promised not to tell, then Jordan found out. We took Isaac to the cave for air, but we forgot it turned people into mermaids and mermen." She said. "Ok then..." I said. Wait. does that mean... Those 2 people were Jordan and Beth? But Jordan isn't a mermaid... Is he? "Er guys... I think I saw Bethany and Jordan." "Hu? How? Where's Beth, and how is Jordan with her?" "I think Jordan went into the cave." "But HOW? The entrance was blocked off!" "Then who was with Beth?" I was beginning to get really confused. Who was that other merman then? The cave was blocked off... "What if he found a way in?" "Then he'll most likely be a merman, I guess. But sometimes, if not all the conditions are right, the person who wandered in the cave will black out..." Cierra's voice trailed off. "Jordan went through all the trouble and even managed to get into that cave, blacked out and everything... for us?" She whimpered. "He did, didn't he?" Addie said. "Where did you find the mermaid and merman?" Isaac said. "I found them near the South Pacific. I can try to swim you all there." I answered. "Yes, please. That would be great!" Cierra smiled. "Cool. Let's go." I said, and turned around to leap into the never-ending sea. They followed behind me and I saw Isaac as a merman for the first time! I haven't seen them for at least 5 to 6 years now, and a whole lot has changed.

Isaac's POV

We leapt into the ocean to find out who these mysterious people were. I think it's Jordan and Beth, but to be honest, I don't think Jordan is a merman. Bethany probably found a companion on the way. Besides, Jordan couldn't have held his breath long enough to break that boulder. Or could he? I looked up to catch Kyara looking at me. She blushed and looked away really fast. Strange... I just wanted to know if my siblings were alright.

But little did I know, Jordan had something other than human in his veins.

Jordan's POV

Me and Bethany were swimming for what felt like hours. Surprisingly, we actually made it from the Atlantic to the Pacific all in one day. You'd be surprised how fast you can go with a fish tail. It was very dark though, both on the surface and in the sea. I could tell Bethany was getting tierd when we began to slow down. "What's wrong? Are you tired?" I asked her. "Very. I haven't swam this much since 2 years ago." She sighed. We were stuck. We had no other transportation than our tails, no way to tell time, and no idea where our siblings are. We eventually stopped at a cave that had hundreds of rocks in it. The roof had collapsed and there were rusty chains in it. We searched through the rubble and found nobody. Just bits of the ceiling and chains. Broken chains. 9 of them... wait a second... "Beth, do you think this is where they were?" "Well, the king was leading them towards this current, and he said he was going to hold them captive when I spied on him, so maybe. But then where are they now?" She quivered. I shook my head and sat down near the entrance, and Bethany sat next to me. The ocean was slowly beginning to light up, each ray shining through the crystal waters, causing the navy blue sea to turn to turquoise. Then we saw 4 figures swim faster and faster towards us. It was Isaac, Cierra, Addie, and Kyara! They were ok! "Oh my gosh! You all are alive!" I yelled. We all hugged each other and laughed. But I felt a sharp pain in my head. Must be a headache. Cierra, Isaac, and Addie looked exhausted. What happened to them? Oh, Kyara is here too. She must've helped them stay alive, because apparently she has a mermaid tail, too. I wonder who else is a Mermaid or Merman... "Jordan, Bethany! Oh, you'll never guess what happened to us!" Addie screeched. "There's a lot to explain..." Isaac chuckled. "Great!" I attempted to smile. My headache is killing me! What the heck is going on? I just got reunited with my siblings, now I have this stupid headache! "Jordan, What's wrong? Your eye is twitching." "Nothing, just the salt water." I fibbed. I dared not to clutch my head with my hands, but I was beginning to moan. Why is this headache hurting so much?! Suddenly, I heard a faint, cringe-worthy screech. "What's that noise?!" I yelled and covered my ears. "What noise? Are you sure you're ok?" Bethany looked around for the source of the noise I claimed I heard. There was nothing. Just us 6 in the deep blue. A couple sun rays peering down from the surface, but that was all. I shook my head and told them we should return home before it gets too late in the day. I told Kyara she could tag along, too. They nodded and we began to swim back to the Ohio River. But then again, we were in the Pacific, and the River was many, many miles away. This was going to be a long trip, or swim in my case.
