"We seem to be pretty lucky, Aubrey," Polly pointed out, trying to stay positive. "This part of town seems pretty empty of... them."
The car pulled to a stop outside Aubrey's house. "Thanks, Polly! You're a doll." Aubrey said, opening the door and stepping out to go retrieve the bat.
After a few seconds, Kim sighed. "I'm going with her - I just want to make sure she doesn't get hurt." The girl pushed up her red glasses, then quickly left the car, slamming the door behind her.
Even in such a dire situation, Basil managed to smile at Sunny. "Kim really is a good friend to Aubrey... Even if they're rough around the edges, they're both good people."
Sunny nodded.
Five minutes passed.
Polly started to tap her fingers on the steering wheel impatiently. "I... I hope they're okay in there."
When ten minutes passed, Basil's smile seemed to have twisted into an anxious expression. "Are...Are they still coming?"
About twelve minutes later, they finally emerged from the building, Aubrey holding her bat and both girls grinning.
After they got in the car again, Basil was quick to question them.
"Um...I don't want to sound impatient, but what exactly were you doing? Did you lose the bat and have to find it or something?"Aubrey shrugged. "Nah. It's not important, so don't worry about it. Sorry about the hold up though. I also have one more request, Polly - could you drop Kim and I off at Kim's house, if it isn't too much trouble?"
Polly pondered this for a moment, then started up the car again. "Are you sure?"
Aubrey nodded. "Certain."

"Well, this is our stop," Aubrey said with a grin."Thanks a bunch, Polly!"
"Of course. Try to keep inside and be safe, you two, alright?"
"You got it!" Kim and Aubrey said at the same time.
"Aubrey," Sunny spoke softly. "You don't plan to die, do you?" He asked, letting anxiety speaking for him.
"You best bet I don't! Till we meet again, Sunny, Basil." Aubrey farewelled the two, getting out of the car and slamming the door. Along with Kim, she started jogging to the front door. The pink haired girl turned, waved one last time, then they both disappeared through the door.
"All right. Where are we going next? We better hurry... Even if this turns out to be fine, we should be prepared for the worst." Polly suggested.
"Do you mind if we go to my house? I'd like...to bring my cat, if that's okay..." Sunny said quietly.
"Of course!" Polly said, and they started to head in that direction, eventually reaching Sunny's house.
Sunny opened the door, but hesitated. "Um- Basil, could you...come with me?" He asked, not liking the idea of leaving Basil out of his sight, but he also didn't want to go into his old house alone. He'd completely forgotten that he was supposed to be moving house - in fact, his mother was already there in his new one - but the moving truck had been postponed after Sunny and Basil's... incident.
Basil brightened a little when Sunny asked. "Sure!"
The two opened the car doors, jumping out and walking quickly to Sunny's front door.
Slowly, the raven haired boy reached out and twisted the handle. He pushed the door in, peeping around the corner, not noticing anything different. He walked in, Basil gently gripping his hand and trailing behind him.
